I’m not afraid to admit it- I hate the cold. So, it’s been a lot of treadmill miles this winter. And with that comes a bit of intimidation about getting splits under me back on the roads. Today I gave myself permission to run whatever my body needed to do in order to get comfortable on the road. It gave it 2 miles to settle in 9:00, 8:25, then all of a sudden, on the hill parts of the course it gave me 7:30, 7:30, 7:20. .
When I saw the first 7:30 my very first thought was- “ok, I see you 7:30 and I raise you 7:15.” I wanted to push. And then my coach brain kicked in and said, “ok Jackass- that’s the dumbass thinking that got you all jacked up in the first place. Simmer down and let the pace come to you- you don’t have to go out and force it to happen.”
And that’s exactly what it did, without any extra effort on my part.
Moral of the story: Find yourself an inner coach-She’s more wise than your fear, then your ego. You just have to be willing to listen. .
So... it’s been a bit... Did a light lift yesterday but this is the first cardio workout I’ve done in a week.
After missing my bi-weekly IV due to scheduling issues, while also doing a candida gut protocol for two weeks I found myself back at those scary ass fatigue and neurological issues again from months ago when I was sick. Not as intense, but definitely the same.
Not gonna lie, this fn sucks. I do so many things to provide for my body, and because I had to fight so hard for so long to get to a great place I wanted to step back from all the “I need to do this. I can’t do that.” because it can get a pretty tight grip on you psychologically. So when the office mixed up my appointment date I saw it as an opportunity to let the stress of “need” go. But.... lesson learned from this experience is that I can’t do that at this point. My body has been giving me the very best that it has to offer and I have in no way neglected the importance of appreciation for that. But it need something in those IVs that supplements and solid nutrition can’t provide me.
So after an IV on Thur and Monday, and stronger supplements I feel well enough to bike this morning. And I’ll be thankful for this time because I know that my body is giving me its best.
Guess who just ran 3 THREEEEE!!! miles on the treadmill at 8:25 pace completely comfortably, and even threw in a 2 min at 6:20 pace at the end because it felt so good?!! So very, very grateful for this amazing run.❤️🏃🏼♀️
This was only my fifth run in four months. It doesn't make sense from a training perspective that it felt so easy, but it goes to show what can happen when you finally make your physical and mental health a priority. Working through my long standing nutritional deficiencies, working on all the dental stuff and ridding my body of bad bacteria, and using meditation, accupuncture, chiropractic and craniosacral therapy to let go of years and years of the physical and emotional baggage that's been living inside of me- that's what it takes.
Just as with training- there is no one magic key. The answers are unlocked through a whole set of keys. It is a process. One you have to be ready to endure. But it's well worth it.
P.S. My family makes fun of me for the "weird" way I show the number three. What can I say-college sign language has stuck with me🤗
One day I will be able to stop with these posts. But no such luck yet.
Bad news is the bacterial infection is back. Good news is we have a plan.
As an athlete- I need that plan, a strategy. I don't like going into things blind. That's why when the symptoms started coming back a week and a half ago I started rounding up my team again.
So the plan is to take out the tooth that has wreaked all this havoc in December. Doing it earlier would actually put me more at risk. In the meantime we will support my body with specific antibacterial supplements and immune support and antibiotics if necessary.
Part of that support plan also means getting my B vitamin and detoxifier levels up. My @spectracell micronutrient testing labs showed a clinical deficiency in glutamine, and 9 (yes 9) other borderline deficiencies (several B vitamins and detoxifiers. Thank you #mthfr). Glutamine is a non-essential amino acid, but don't let that term fool you. "Non-essential" simply means your body makes it on its own. So it's actually pretty hard to find yourself with a true deficiency. But, the cocktail of endurance training, a bacterial infection, gut absorption issues and a vegetarian diet can get you there, and I check all of those boxes.
So this IV is a modified B complex (no folic acid) and then a bag of glutathione is next.
Slow yet steady progress. Today is a good day.
