That was a short run. Due to some let’s call it “issues” I wasn’t able to run the past 4 weeks and today felt like a good day to get back on track. I wanted to finish the 3km round and I did it. Hope to get better and run longer soon - the #halfmarathon in Hamburg is still waiting for me 😬 .

I got lost 😅 So there we were (took one of the lads for a run) running at a nice steady pace through the country roads. Everything was going absolutely fine until I decided to turn right. The plan was to cut through an industrial estate, follow the fence line, and return back to the starting point. A simple 5k route. Turns out, if you follow the estate all the way through, there’s a big fence with barbwire on top. Contemplated scaling it... thought better of it.... 5k turns into 8k. Decent weather though!! 🏃🏻♂️

Milujem ten pocit pri behu, keď prepnem na mód, kedy už akoby ani neviem že beham a jednoducho..beham. Nohy pracujú, telo pracuje, hlava pracuje. #TrenujSrdcom 💙🙏 //
Hoje o dia amanheceu congelante aqui em Sampa... Só 13°C, tá bom pra vc? 😆

One of these guys is 26, weighs about 21 stone and doesn’t do any exercise, the other is 36 and can smash-out a sub3 marathon.
Nothing crazy to report; went on a diet, got into running, the rest is history.
Being fat is something you can choose to change, it just takes a lot of will power to make it happen.

Things you can’t control- THE WEATHER! ⚡️💦
I always check the forecast before I leave in the morning because you have no idea what it’s like outside at 4 am. Zero rain- thunder- or lightning was in the forecast. But guess what, at 3.5 miles, at the furthest point from my house, I saw lightning and honestly thought it was a street light broke or something but then it happened again and then the heavens opened up and it started downpouring. I usually wear a hat if it’s going to rain but today I didn’t and it was dark, pouring, and I couldn’t see in front of me. I hid out under a gas station for about 5 minutes until it slowed enough for me to get home.
Here is the thing- everyone keeps emailing me and texting me about the marathon weather- it’s been one of the coldest springs on record but of course it’s going to be in the 80’s on Saturday. I’m choosing to not look or let it get in my head. YOU CONTROL YOU! Is it ideal? NO! Am I still going to fight for my goal? HELL YES!
The minute I start letting it get into my head is the minute I start doubting myself. Not this time, friends! 🙌🏻
Rest day tomorrow and one last shakeout run.
8 miles with a mini workout in the middle.

What a workout! Today I didn’t know if I could do it. Started with 1 mile wake up, followed by 1 mile warm up. Yes, I added a new zone because I need to warm up for my warm up. Anyone else? Yeah. Thought so.
Finished with 4 at a comfy pace and then the HARDEST part of this run was ending with a @motherrunnermel IG pose pic. Took like 47 tries but I think I got close. Probably gonna need a few days to recover from that, but I’ll shake it off. 🤣
Have a Tuesday all!

Keep showing up.
What does that mean to you? To me, it’s chasing the mental state I experienced in peak week. I was exhausted, traveling for work, late nights, crazy mileage, and somehow between fight or flight, my brain shut down and let my body do the work. It’s how I was able to pull the insane paces off, and it’s how I was able to PR my half time on what was supposed to be a training run (you guys should never believe me when I say that 😂).
I need her back going into the hardest half I’ve faced yet.
I got a glimmer this morning: 2 up, 6 @ 7:10, 7:01, 7:01, 7:00, 7:01, 6:54, 2 down. 10 total, 7:17 pace.
Cheers fam ♥️🔥

Warm weather is coming to Chicago! These damp, cold days will be behind us soon.
