Regrann from @nasa - Behold - a swirling mystery!
During its 12th close flyby of Jupiter, our @NASAJuno spacecraft captured this close-up view of the gas giant planet’s tapestry of vivid colors and swirling atmospheric vortices. This image captures the easternmost edge of Jupiter’s Great Red Spot and surrounding south tropical disturbance.
Many aspects of the planet’s atmosphere are still a mystery. For example, the origin of individual storms or churning cloud features is unknown. By studying Jupiter’s weather up close for the first time, our Juno spacecraft is helping researchers better understand how atmospheres work in general – including our own. What we learn about Jupiter’s atmosphere will also help scientists understand how gas-giant planets work in general, including those now being discovered beyond our solar system.
Since 2016 Juno has been penetrating Jupiter’s deep, colorful zones and belts in a quest to answer fundamental questions about the gas giant planet's origin and evolution.

Ok I will make this simple as possible as it is a very deep topic! In the brain there is the reticular activation system (RAS) which controls consciousness. On a more specific function it decides where to focus our attention. As a defense mechanism we need to know where to direct attention for survival purposes. For example if I am in an unfamiliar neighborhood my brain needs to make me more alert of my environment and not what I ate earlier for breakfast. Now in relevance to positive/negative thinking the RAS will bring attention to what we direct our focus to. If you think about getting into college to become a lawyer, then the brain will bring attention to things that are associated with that goal. On the contrary of you focus on not getting a job then your brain will then focus on the things associated with that. For the sake of energy the brain must conserve so the RAS mechanism allows energy to be directed to whatever has been deemed "important". Think about getting your first car. Before you got it you probably never paid any mind to that particular type of car. But now you see them everywhere! The same happens with your brain and where you place your thoughts. So think on the things that are beneficial to your goals so your brain can direct you there! “Today’s Feel Good Friday story is about pushing through fear. This adorable, smiley, sweet little cuddlebug is the reward my brave patient earned when she faced her fears and decided not to let them hold her back.👶
When she first came to see me, she had already suffered a loss and had been trying to conceive for some time since then. She was nervous about coming to see me and when she sat down in my office she pulled out a notebook with a long list of questions for me. We went through her questions one by one and when she got down to her last question she paused and took a deep breath: “What if treatment doesn’t work?” My response: “What if it DOES?”
The experience of infertility is often filled with fear, doubt, risks, and unknowns, but we can’t let the fear of failure prevent us from fighting for our dreams. Part of my role is to strategize about the best way to succeed, to help motivate patients to keep going forward, to trust the process, and not look back. Once you push through that fear and commit yourself to achieving your goals, you will be amazed by what you can accomplish. The reward on the other side of that fear could be a sweet little cuddlebug like the one in my arms and your life will be forever changed in the best way possible.💕
I’m so proud of this patient for never giving up when she had reasons to doubt herself and I’m so happy that she finally has this perfect little boy as living proof that dreams do come true. Happy Friday, everyone!💫”
Friday I will complete the second part of my three-part candidacy (qualifying) exam. I turned in my 7 page research proposal a couple weeks ago and on Friday I will complete an initial round of exam questions from my examination committee in written/essay format. Then Thursday of next week I will complete the rest of my candidacy exam with an oral presentation and then answer whatever follow-up questions my committee has.
This exam has been a long time coming. My advisor and I have been postponing it due to the 10 surgeries I've had since starting graduate school and the pain I’ve been in. This past February it finally sunk in that I have to stop waiting for “better” and just work with what I have so I can continue moving forward toward my goals.
I will be a doctor. I will improve our understanding and treatment of hydrocephalus. I will work to ensure that both children and adults with hydrocephalus are able to get quality care.
I may be in pain every day but I will not let it stop me. My pain is motivation to keep working so that others do not have to fight the same battle. 💙💪💜 #relentlesspursuit#hydrocephalus#migraine
Does anyone else have sensitive eyes and struggle keeping them open on beautiful days such as today? 😵☀️

I’m so damn thankful for beautiful animals in life. The minute I seen these two I felt so many good emotions. I’m really allergic to horses and most animals but not even that can stop me from admiring these amazing pals.
These tiny barrel-shaped organisms move through the water by pumping water through their gelatinous bodies, munching on phytoplankton as they go. Salps are known for their unique life cycle, during which they exist both as individuals and part of a larger organism. Four-inch (10.2 centimeter) sea salps link together to make luminous chains up to fifteen feet (4.6 meters) long!
