Seriously blown away by Bryce Canyon. Hiked around the rim and found myself stopping every minute to admire the view.

I know you have heard me post about the @spartan race I am training for. I am posting about it because I believe in it. One of the reasons why I believe in the race is because it is a community that pushes people out of their comfort zone, something I strongly encourage. Many people in this day and age get used to the life that they are living and whether they realize it or not avoid being uncomfortable or trying to push themselves past fears. Another community of individuals that I really respect is highliners. I had the opportunity to photograph a number of highliners including the amazing @jaredmarvel featured here. And I think a number of them were surprised when I asked if I could give it a try. I’m definitely not new to balance and I am able to walk on a normal slack line in a park 4 feet above the ground, but let me tell you something else that this is a lot different. It’s not just the mental factor that seems obvious; this was actually the most physically demanding event that I’ve ever tried. And when I finally was able to move out to the center of the slack line with a harness and prepare to attempt to stand on top of it I remember Jared yelling over one more time “hey Brian are you sure you’re ready to try this”. And in my mind there was not a thing in the world that I could’ve done to get me ready to try this. I could’ve tried slack line 10 hours a day for five years in a row and I don’t think it would’ve got me ready to feel comfortable standing on a slack line a couple thousand feet above the ground. So I made the decision that I was just going to stand knowing that I was going to fall. I think there’s decisions that we can all make that don’t necessarily have to be this extreme but daily decisions to put us past our comfort zone to live a more fulfilling life. @spartan#spartanstrong

If you zoom in you’ll be able to see @erubes1 working off the Poisson Cru from the night before. If you don’t know, Poisson cru is a Polynesian fish consisting of raw fish marinated in citrus juice and coconut milk. It was probably the highlight of every single location we shot at. My mouth is watering just thinking about it as I write this caption.
If you ever make it out to French Polynesia, make sure to indulge in your fair share of Poisson Cru. You won’t regret it. I know @erubes1 doesn’t.
