The tiny Rollei 35 is a really high quality compact film camera. It’s got a Zeiss 40mm lens on it. This one is made in Germany and has a f3.5 aperture, there is also a version with f2.8. The light meter doesn’t work anymore, so operating this camera requires some practice. It‘s all manual, you have to set all variables by yourself. There is also no way to check the focus, hence you have to rely on zone focusing and guessing the distance. That’s also why the f2.8 version has little benefit in my opinion. At least with my copy you also have to meter with sunny 16 rule. Now you might ask why should you use such an inconvenient camera? Because it’s really fun and easy to carry around. If you nail the shot, you will be infinitely more happier.
Have you ever tried a Rollei 35?
Postcards from Santorini 🇬🇷📸 An incredibly beautiful island of whitewashed villages overlooking a still smoking volcano.🌋 Quite sad it’s overrun by tourists. Avoid the peak season to discover the true charm of the island. 👀 #santorini#discovergreece
