After several caffeine-filled hours getting work done at Revelator, a quick visit to Little Star Provisions was a no-brainer. This Korean BBQ sandwich was so filling and tasty. Do yourself a favor, and go try it.

The Smokey Carter’s Mini Travel Blog. Bringing you hints and tips this summer season for your next holiday getaway. ☀️ 2/10 - THE ALGARVE, PORTUGAL ☀️ The Algarve is a firm favourite of ours, not only is it a quick 2 hour flight from the UK, with budget flights plentiful all year round, but the weather is always fine and sunny during the spring and summer months, making it the perfect Mediterranean getaway. 🏖️ Ferragudo and Lagos are 2 resorts that hold a very special place in our hearts, as this is where Mr Smokey popped The Question in 2011. 💍 And where just eleven months later, we tied The Knot. In my humble opinion the Algarve has some of the best beaches to be found in The Med, lots of little sandy coves to explore, with beautiful dramatic cliff faces, and crystal clear blue waters.
Food wise it will come as no surprise that Piri Piri chicken is a staple on many restaurant menus. Any fans of Nandos will know the drill. Don’t forget about the delicious grilled sardines, available when in season, local to the area (support the fishermen!) and very good for you. Full of Omega 3s. I love the mini starters most restaurants give you before a meal; bread, sardine pate, carrots and black olives. There is nowhere else in the world that combo would work together. With a destination so close to home, its rude not to visit it more.
More destinations to follow. Why not post your favourite Algarve holiday pics below. We would love to see them.
Watching the Today Show this morning and loving this Grilled Avocado with Dungeness Crab Salad 🥑
COOK TIME:5 minutes
PREP TIME:10 minutes
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
8 ounces Dungeness crab meat
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 lemons, juiced and zested
2 teaspoons chopped tarragon
Micro cilantro, for garnish
1. Preheat grill to high heat.
2. Cut avocados in half, remove pit, brush with oil and season with salt and pepper.
3. Place avocados on grill. Once you obtain nice grill marks on avocados, remove from grill and set aside.
4. In a mixing bowl, combine the crab, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, lemon zest and tarragon, and gently mix.
5. Place crab mixture inside the avocado pit indents, garnish with micro cilantro and serve.
Technique tip: Once you set your item on the grill, resist the urge to touch it too frequently. You need to allow char-marks to develop so it doesn't stick.
Swap option: Instead of Dungeness crab, substitute shrimp salad, chicken salad or tuna poke.
