National Park Project: Big Bend located in the absolute middle of nowhere in Southwest Texas, and encompasses the entire Chisos Mountain Range as well as much of the Chihuahuan Desert. You can also visit the Rio Grande River and see across the border into Mexico. I didn’t have a lot of time to spend here and a place I definitely want to visit again. #nationalparkproject#bigbend#bigbendnationalpark#nationalpark
My editing to do list is a mile long and I could not be more grateful for all the amazing sessions I am working on right now 🖤 gearing up for my first double header of the year this weekend and I’m so pumped to be working with some of the best clients!
Adventures in Big Bend National Park! 🏜🏔🌵
One of Javi's favorite places on Earth, and I hadn't been since I was too young to remember. Thanks for sharing this magical world and humbling human experience with me.
We stayed a night in the basin before three days of backpacking the Chisos. I'd never backpacked before, and it was an insanely empowering and arduous journey- especially because the desert terrain means no watering holes, so you carry all the water you need.
We made a lovely shade sanctuary on the top of the South Rim with a rain fly and watercolors, with camp minutes away at site SW4 (recommended). A large tree stands there overlooking an expanse of Mexico, harboring visitors like us for afternoons that soften to sunset.
We were nearly alone on our hikes- all besides the inquisitive and mysterious Mexican jays that followed us from camp to camp, sat with us during water breaks, and even watched the sunset with us near Emory peak. They're an amazing species we hadn't learned much of before. Turns out their incredibly social and successful for it. They work in communities, such that they take care of each other's young and defend against predators together. Adorable and brilliant little creatures (see photo and poem). They were our trail guides. 🏕
Favorite trail snack: 🥒pickles and Pete's hot sauce🔥
The poem of the Mexican jay written by Javi and myself with the approval of an observing jay: 💛
A friend to all encountered.../
No concern for being polite/
Curious, gentle, jumping jay/
To and fro without invite/
Beaming black eyes kindly stare/
Blue cape tailing here and there/ "How are you, my dear friend?/ Have you any seeds to spare?"
Good afternoon! This is guest host @daleblasingame - and how would you like to witness this view tonight? I know I would. Thanks to Lee McMullen for sharing this great shot of the stars over Balanced Rock in Big Bend.
Take the shot, put your phone away and enjoy what’s around you to the fullest. 📷: @jon_brons0n
