The Ennis House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1924 by his son, Lloyd, is the last and largest of the elder Wright’s four “textile block” houses in the Los Angeles area. These homes are noted for their patterned and perforated concrete blocks, which give a unique textural appearance to both the exterior and interior. Built for Mabel and Charles Ennis, the Mayan Revival home and chauffeur’s quarters span over 6,000 square feet. They are constructed of more than 27,000 concrete blocks, all made by hand using granite extracted from the site. Although used as a shooting location as early as 1933 (Female), the storybook home first acquired fame providing the exterior facade for House on Haunted Hill (1959). The Day of the Locust (1975) made extensive use of the home as a private residence, but it was in Blade Runner (1982) that the home gained a popularity of its own among moviegoers, and later among the audience of the television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003). #franklloydwright#ennishouse#architecture#lfestyle#icon#losangeles#luxury#homedesign#bladerunner#buffy#gentlemanmodern#gentlemanstyle#news#lifestyleblogger#art
And you too can live in the #BladeRunner house for a mere 23MM! “As of earlier this week, the geometric, iconic #FrankLloydWright–designed home. The unique, temple-like residence (the style is more #RaidersoftheLostArk than a Buddhist monastery) was originally built by Wright’s architect son Lloyd Wright in 1924 for retailer Charles Ennis and his wife, Mabel, but has since had a long and storied history of losing battles against Mother Nature. The home, which was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's love of Mayan architecture, was first badly damaged by the 1994 Nothridge earthquake; then, torrential rains wreaked havoc on it once more in 2005. It wasn’t until 2011, when billionaire Ron Burkle purchased the property for $4.5 million, that it began the long road to recovery and restoration to its former grandeur. (Burke has reportedly spent nearly $17 million to restore the home.) The residence has been featured in dozens of films, television shows, fashion shoots, and music videos over the years, including #TwinPeaks, #RushHour, and #BuffytheVampire Slayer.” — Carlson Griffith, Photo courtesy @bigmac857#architecture#losangelesarchitecture#nycrealtor#nycrealestate#nycbuyersagent#nycsellersagent#movetowhatmovesyou#halsteaduws#curtisgoldstein#curtisandarchitecture 🕋🌠

"I wanted to live the life, a different life. I didn't want to go to the same place every day and see the same people and do the same job. I wanted interesting challenges."
Happy Birthday to the incredible Harrison Ford! 🎉 What is your favorite film from Harrison?
