“She missed her friends so much...not so much that she was lonely, but that she wanted her friends to be able to share all of the lovely things here...” -loosely quoted from “Felicity, American Girl” This phrase resonated with me as we finish up the last chapters via audio. And that about sums up the most of it as we explore and find new places and lovely things. We miss our friends + family terribly + wish to share these lovely places and adventures with them...but too, we are grateful and loving to do this as a family, adventuring together in God’s wild and beautiful world. Truly, the stars are nearer, brighter. The country a little-ok, a LOT-more untouched than where we just moved from. There are fossils to find, warbling birds to serenade us, fish to catch, streams to ford-or drive through-literally. ❤️ I’ll admit, I do love manicured beauty the best on most days. It was one thing I knew I would miss... gardens and architecture, beautiful cared-for spaces everywhere. But the wild, untouched, natural beauty of pastures and rolling hills, mountains, and flowing streams... these are none less wonderful. It feels a little daring for me to be here and enjoy these places... I’m not the active, loving-the-outdoors-no-matter-what kind of girl. But I am pushing myself just a little, and most of all loving to see my children get to experience new and wonderful kinds of nature, new places in God’s world.

If you’ve never had a chance to explore the Buffalo River I highly recommend it. Every time I travel and I tell people about AR, the first thing I tell them about is this river. Giant bluffs, tropically blue waters, lush plant life, chill currents. It’s hard to beat. As much as I love running rapids, this calm ridiculously beautiful river has my heart. I’ve seen her at her highest, lowest, and angriest. I will still always love her and visit her every chance I get. ❤️ #ourbuffaloriver#buffaloriver#arkansas#kayaking
