Repost By unparalleled_suffering: Tomorrow I’ll be premiering a brand new video that I’m extremely proud of. It’s going to be an intense ride that I think should be witnessed by everyone. I won’t be able to post the whole video to IG because it’s 6.5 minutes but I’ll most likely have it on Facebook, YouTube, and my website starting tomorrow. This is the fishing scene from the video. Fishes are one of the top killed animals and they are as sentient as us and can suffer at least as much as us. Please think more about them, please get educated more about them, please bear more witness to them, and please advocate more for them.

Finished reading “Beyond Beliefs: A Guide to Improving #Relationships and #Communication for #Vegans, #Vegetarians, and Meat Eaters” the #book by Melanie Joy, PhD.
This is not a book only for vegans, as it speaks about how our communications can help all our relationships. Melanie talks about how ideologies and #morals can be different, but these don’t have to bring about unmet needs. By being honest and upfront about your differences, and focusing on #compassion and non-judgement, relationships for vegan people with veg or non-veg do not need to be turmoil-filled.
Vegan allies are important - whether they are your friends or your partner. Knowing that your values are understood and accepted is a great start for any relationship. When one or both of you want the other to change is when problems arise. .
#Carnism is mentioned a lot in this book, as it’s the term Melanie created to explain the oppressive, dominant conditioning society has to eat certain animals. Due to carnism being widespread, it’s hard when non-vegans do not see how their conditioning influences all their behaviours - especially those regarding their relationship and communication with you. Institutionalised systems’ beliefs and practices are promoted as facts rather than opinions, and accepted without question.
This book gives much information, along with examples, and worksheets to help with all of our communication and relationships. Check it out!
People ask me a lot if it’s hard to be vegan. And to be honest, I can understand how people think it is difficult. I thought vegans we extreme, cult-like condescending individuals. But, it turns out, we are not. We are human beings who hope for a compassionate, empathetic, health and environmentally-conscious world. It has been an amazing journey to transition from what I was made to believe to a new sense of living in a way where I am aware of how the choices in my life impact other beings with whom we are lucky to share this planet. One of the most beautiful things about being vegan is living in a way that aligns my heart. One of the hardest things for me is to watch ourselves say we love animals as our society systematically oppresses the truth and promotes the belief of speciesism where we are taught to believe we are superior to all other species on this planet. And getting over those beliefs and coming to terms with what we have been taught can be very difficult.
I attended my first activism workshop today with a very inspiring human @earthlinged and volunteered with @anonymousforthevoiceless ❤️ It was incredibly overwhelming for me on many different levels. From spending the afternoon with dozens and dozens of like-minded, passionate individuals to having an incredible conversation with a man who opened his heart to ditching animal products, my day was complete. Thank you @cafefloraveg for providing such a delicious #vegan dinner to help recharge the batteries.
To all of my fellow vegans out there in the interwebs: thanks for your empathy. And to those of us thinking about what the world could be like where all beings live in harmony: keep asking questions and you will find the truth.
Peace begins with what you put on your plate and a healthy, non-violent world free of exploitation, lies and suffering is possible.
Be the change you want to see in the world.
Excerpt from my “skincare 101” article.
As I am currently visiting my grandparents, I’m more aware than ever of this subject... the curse of aging that our society has placed on the human psyche.
I long for the days when elders were revered for the wisdom imbedded in every wrinkle on their face, and am taking it upon myself to un-learn the toxic patterns that have infiltrated into our minds- particularly (but not by any means exclusively) into the female mind.
Cultivate a self love and self worth that transcends the physical body when you are still young. Adore your Self, for all that it is. To obsess over your physical appearance ensures nothing but misery when the inevitable process of life takes over.
Start by banning the word “anti-aging” from your vocabulary, and then the concept from your thoughts. Aging is life, change is life, death IS life. 🌱🌳🍃

Yesterday was such a nice day. In the morning I ran up a mountain with my brother Paullin who was put in touch with me by a friend of a friend. I was also going to stay at one of his friends place last night but he had to cancel because his family showed up a day early and there wasnt space, so this man, whose name I still don't know, insisted on paying for another night for me in the motel. I then met the @icompassionubunt team and they gave me this bracelet. One side says iCompassion and you wear it on that side until you have done something compassionate for someone else and then you flip it over to the Ubuntu side which is an African proverb that means " I am because you are". Which symbolises our connectedness and if Africans and people all around the world actually practiced this the world would be a lot better off. But unfortunately money is now God and has replaced love and compassion.

Explain your anger, don't express it, and you will immediately open the door to solutions instead of arguments.

We live in a lucid dream. We have played a role in creating all that is currently taking place around us. Every heart expanding moment. Every dark experience. We have brought it into existence with our thoughts, feelings, and energetic frequency. We have the ability to heal what is broken. We have the responsibility to harness our individual and collective power. We are in the midst of creating our future in this very moment. We have the opportunity to create a positive ripple effect. We are LOVE at our core. When we choose to live in Alignment with our loving essence we naturally think positively, dream big, and lift the spirits of those around us. 🦋✨

Livestock and their byproducts account for at least 32,000 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year.
Agriculture is responsible for 80-90% of US water consumption. Throughout the world, humans dritnk 5.2 billion gallons of water and eat 21 billion pounds of food each day. Worldwide, cows drink 45 billion gallons of water and eat 135 billion pounds of food each day. Hence the cows consume 6-9 times more than humans. Also, did you know that 2,500 gallons of water are needed to produce 1 pound of beef.
Animal agriculture is responsible for up to 91% of Amazon destruction and 1-2 acres of rainforest are cleared every second. The leading causes of rainforest destruction are livestock and feedcrops. Animal agriculture is also the leading cause of species extinction, ocean dead zones, water pollution, and habitat destruction. Livestock operations on land have created more than 500 nitrogen flooded deadzones around the world in our oceans. For you to understand how inefficient animal agriculture is 1.5 acres can produce 37,000 pounds of plant-based food, 1.5 acres can produce 375 pounds of beef....
70 billion farmed animals are reared annually worldwide. No wonder we need to kill the rainforest grow crops fertilize and destroy our soil and oceans. More than 6 million animals are killed for food every hour.
A person who follows a vegan diet produces the equivalent of 50% less carbon dioxide, uses 1/11th oil, 1/13th water, and 1/18th land compared to a meat-lover for their food.
