@rafaelalpinista@bbrunodc@octaviomalvadeza@agathagsantiago#equipemalvadeza#rancacouro#consultoriodragatha#crossfit
Why You Should Lift Fasted 💪🏽
Fasting means that you are abstaining from all foods—and water if you are DRY FASTING (I don’t recommend lifting in a dry fasted state).
The real reasons working out fasted is so beneficial are as simple as this:
✅ Increased Human Growth Hormone (HGH)
✅ Insulin Sensitivity
✅ Optimizes Glycogen Storing (Glycogenesis)
✅ Can Burn Through More Fat
There are a ton more indirect benefits I can get into, but we should stick w/ the most obvious for the sake of ur time.
The best time to lift fasted seems to be at the very end of your fast or right before you eat your first meal if you don’t intermittent fast.
The glycogen stores in that specific muscle group you just exercised will always be primed by eating post-workout, but fasting will optimize this by insulin sensitivity for these muscle groups. This means better glycogenesis (conversion of glucose into glycogen stores)
Glycogenesis can be best controlled by altering phosphorylation of glycogen synthase and glycogen phosphorylase. Any hormonal regulations can have an influence on this process (fasting being ONE of them) 🔑
Lifting fasted has also allowed me to feel stronger even if lactate builds up 💪🏽
Best timing for all of this will be 1-2 hours before your first meal of your day (for me, this is ~4-5pm as of right now).
🔑 A quick way to get a pump w/o having to lift any weights is to eat something w/ lots of sodium.
🔑 Also, I tell my muscles to grow, and they grow.

What little champions we have on our hands. Well done the Barnes boys, out training and competing their folks! Had their first ever Crossfit competition and crushed it. We are so proud of our top little athletes.
Alpha Strike Athlete Kevin broke his Deadlift PR last Saturday! Her he is lifing 345 pounds during the #CrossFitTotal2018 competition.
Our Alpha 365 program focuses on pushing our athletes’ limits safely and effectively in whatever discipline. Competitions like last weekend’s Crossfit Total are some of the best venues to test ourselves against some of the best in the country.
Ask any of our athletes here if they ever imagined themselves competing in a lifting meet a couple of years ago. Now, ask them why they did so last week.
Congratulations to all the Alphas who brought their best selves at the Crossfit Total!
Are you ready to train like an Alpha?
