Some close ups of a Bridle Joint. I've mentioned previously that I love to use this joint on my frame and panel doors. I just came across a controlled test Fine Woodworking performed on joint strength in their Jan/Feb 2009 issue. The bridle joint eventually failed under 1560lbs of pressure, where as the commonly used cope and stick, and stub tennon (tongue and groove) failed between 200 -313lbs. Big difference! 😮
