Guess what?!! I’m on my way to the start line of the Tenderfoot Boogie 50k right now - and I made these tart cherry energy bites to fuel me and @sole_purpose_ along the way.
We’re doing the whole thing together - somehow I’m so lucky as to have such a friend who’ll jump into an ultra just to support my comeback post broken foot!!! Note - no I’m not ‘properly’ trained... I just have this intense irrational desire to cover 50km... So it’ll be more of a long hike... But I cannot wait to hit those trails and trek from Squamish to Whistler!
Recipe is on page 188 of my recipe book, and in my Kickstart Cleanse (called pre-run energy bars). I guess you could say I loosely followed my recipe - threw all the ingredients in the food processor without actually measuring anything and decided to add maple syrup for extra carbs and sweetness (because during running, carbs is the limiting fuel)... And rolled them in a combo of hemp hearts, cacao powder and icing sugar (wanted to make them as appealing as possible while running!!). I think they kinda look like those Lara bites that came out maybe a year ago!!
