Happy #summersolstice! We always try to celebrate the longest day of the year by spending as much of it as possible outside enjoying one of our favorite places.
We might be biased here at Woolx, but we’re pretty sure New York’s Adirondack Park rivals any National Park in the country. We’ll never get tired of its #foreverwild forests, lakes, trails and streams. Whether it’s right outside your backdoor, or across the country, what park always feels like ‘home” to you?

My calendar says that today is the first day of Summer but it's rainy so I'm thinking back on pretty past days and looking forward to the adventures coming this summer 🌼

The Hungo Pavi great house ruins at @chaco_culture_nhp aren't the largest, nor are they the most impressive, but they're some of the first you'll come upon during your visit to this incredible park and serve as an appropriate introduction to the mystery and wonder left behind by the Ancestral Puebloans -- one of the most advanced and intriguing civilizations in North America.
Hungo Pavi is one of the few Chacoan buildings to remain unexcevated -- and only has a few sections of reinforcement for stability's sake. So when you're hiking up to this 150-room site, you're basically having the same view the Navajo people had when they moved into the region hundreds of years ago, or the U.S. Army did when they stumbled upon it in 1849.
We'll have more incoming hikes from Chaco soon, but enjoy this taste on modernhiker.com or by clicking the link in the bio. You can find Ancestral Puebloan sites all over the Western U.S., including @mesaverdenps, #bandeliernationalmonument, #canyondechelly, #hovenweep, and many others. .
While these sites haven't been inhabited for hundreds of years, they are all still of spiritual and cultural importance to modern indigenous nations in the region, many of whom are descended from the original inhabitants of these incredible structures. Please treat them with respect and reverence.
Anishinaabemowin Ikidowin Giizhigad (Anishinaabe Language Word Day). Today's word is mememgwaa (meh-mem-gwaa), or butterfly. This Tiger Swallowtail was spotted at the entrance of the Treat Farm trail. Tiger Swallowtails are frequently found in wooded areas and flower gardens. In the East, you will find the Eastern, Canadian, and Appalachian Tiger Swallowtails. #findyourpark#sleepingbeardunes#anishinaabemowin

My favorite moments are, man interacting with nature. We look so tiny and it puts our significance in perspective.
2 years ago today I packed up my life to head out on this crazy travel nurse adventure! Sometimes I still have to remind myself this is real life because I’m living the dream!!! The past 2 years have taught me so much & I’m forever thankful for the wonderful hospitals I’ve worked, incredible places I’ve explored, & friends that have turn into family. AND it’s taught me to get really good at a self-timer selfie 😂😂😍🚗👩🏼⚕️🐱🏥🏔🗻🏝🏜🏕🌄🌅💙 #MoOnTheRoad#GypsyNurseAdventures#LoveMyLife#EndSappyPost

The world's big and I want to have a good look at it before it gets dark. -John Muir
My desire to head west and experience the magnificent views is growing every day after seeing this view on the #blueridgeparkway ⛰⛰ Who wants to go!?!
This week I’ve been looking back on video I took last year. Not really doing anything with it, just walking through memories.
It’s crazy how much differently a video compares to a photograph, in terms of emotional response, whether positive or negative. Both forms of documentation are great but they hit different spots in the heart, for me.
Been thinking about doing more, maybe I’ll video more trips, and share them again. It’s fun, although time consuming, but I think it might be worth it.

Brisk nights under the stars. Is there anything better?
