A family that hikes together, stays together? We are lucky to live in a place with lots of hilly hiking trails & we always try to hike whenever we go camping.
We also love the beach! I love living right in between the mountains and the ocean 😍
We're looking forward to cooler weather so we can hike again! What's your favorite way to explore the outdoors?

Haddie started a science class at the zoo today! We will go each Wednesday this semester and I’m excited for her to have the hands on learning experience. She really enjoyed it. Luckily, that doesn’t mean we have to start school quite yet. I feel like we need just a bit more summer! ☀️ #homeschool#zoo

I have very fond memories of my childhood summer gardens. Every year I would help my dad plant the corn. I was always barefoot. Dad had a special corn planting stick with marks for the perfect spacing. We put 3 seeds in every hole and a banana peel. One year we grew giant corn and baby corn. Dad had to use a ladder to get to the giant ears. It sure was fun to look at but it that’s about all it was good for. It was pretty normal for me to feast on cucumbers and pear tomatoes while playing outside.
Corn is a lot harder to grow here in North Idaho. Shorter seasons make for shorter stocks, but it’s as sweet as ever! A greenhouse tomato jungle is the only way we actually get to eat red tomatoes.
So much peace in a garden.
Do you or your kids play outside barefoot? It is very important to me that my kids get a LOT of barefoot time, both inside and outside of the home. I know I’m not alone, but I am one of the only moms in my circle that instructs their kids to *remove* their shoes when they play outside. Haha. Why? There is so much research on this topic, but a few things that matter to me are : 1) building immunity, 2) improving balance and body awareness, 3) improving senses, 4) grounding with nature, 5) just being a kid.

Some days look like this... hard work, cooperation and actual learning.
Other days look like today...eye rolls, huffing, puffing and no learning. But we all have those days. Days when we just don’t want to show up for the things we need to do. So today was a ‘grace’ day. When I give as much grace as I can and try and use grace for myself.
We homeschool so that we can have grace days.
Summer homeschool morning... we are still in summer school 😳 ... my poor kids end summer school next week and then start up again a week and a half later. 🤦🏻♀️ .... so no breaks for this mama 😳😅😅.... it’s been pretty hard this summer, first time teaching T-K and first time with a high schooler at home. But when I see the progress with both my boys with just summer school, I get super excited. Even though I may feel a little crazy at times😳🤪
And I am sooo glad I have been able to ease into this with Jude this summer before I really have to step my game up! 😳😅😅😅😅
$5 hardcover, some smudging on cover as shown, otherwise very good condition. Beautiful color illustrations!📚📚📚 #freemommabooks#fmbavailable

Had my sis in law stay with us for the long weekend and forgot to share this. I had cleared out my office for storage/sorting out and then cleared the storage out for a homeschool space. The kids and I decided it would be fun to first make it a warm and welcome space for their Auntie, who was coming to visit for three nights. We all decided to look for special decorations and create a welcome basket full of some fun and favourite things. It was so much fun and the kids all helped add their piece to the puzzle. It was a great learning and loving on others lesson for everyone. 💝🧡💜
Real life. Homeschool. They’re basically the same thing with some extra math 😊 .
Also, the bed is a super fancy double high air mattress but it’s actually pretty comfy...I’ve tried it out. My littlest was sleeping in it and warming it up for Auntie before she came 😍😴
As a first time homeschooling mama, I am constantly questioning if I made the right decision for our family. Most of our friends and neighbors went back to school today and I loved seeing all of the kids in their school uniforms posing for their “First Day of School” pics. I was a little sad, worrying that my kids were missing out. Then we shared a morning snack, read some books and discussed our upcoming mushroom and fungi project the girls have initiated and planned. As I picked up the beans our toddler scattered around the classroom while we worked this morning, I watched the kids through the window. They played outside for over an hour, barefoot, in their pajamas, working on their dam building project. This freedom to explore and learn together at each child’s own pace (and the ability to stay in our jammies half the day 😉) is exactly why we homeschool.
We read From Seed to Sunflower. Then we learned how to draw sunflowers with our chalk pastels.

You all may know by now that I have decided to homeschool another year! (taking it year by year) 🙏🏽 I'm truly BLESSED to be able to work from home & teach my babies!
I have also decided to share my journey this year vs. being M.I.A in hopes that my passion for building a strong healthy home will help another Mom out there. Working Mom's included😉 •
🌈The main rule of thumb when working with babies & toddlers is to make sure all things are interesting!

Wow. 3000 followers!!! When I first started I couldn't even imagine how I get the first 100 😆 But I set myself a goal of having 3000 within a year. It's only been 5 months since I started so it has absolutely blown me away. But more than the number I'm blown away by the amazing group of people I get to follow. Home educators passionate about providing the best quality education for their children and amazing businesses with the best educational resources that make learning fun and rewarding. It's truly inspiring! I've been thinking a lot lately about where I want the Home Education Collective to go and have some big plans. One of them is moving away from a directory based site and focusing on bringing you the biggest and best deals, bulk group buys and discounted memberships available to home educating families. If you're a businesses providing educational resources for Australian homeschoolers and want to know how you can be apart of it please feel free to DM or email me. Lots more info coming soon so keep an eye out or sign up for the newsletter (link in bio) Thank you 💕💕💕
Today we did lesson 4 of our @thegoodandthebeautiful science. We learned all about cells, and I desperately wanted my kids to build a cell model. After looking up different ways to build one and going to buy all the goodies, I realized I didn’t want to spend all that money on one project. So I scrounge up anything I already had in my house for the model. They had a blast and loved it! It’s easy to forget that not every project needs to be Pinterest worthy. They enjoy it whether I spend $0 or $50. It’s the experience that matters most to them. 💕
Although we school year-round, today is the official beginning of our new school year. Not #backtoschool per se, but new plans, supplies, and ideas #homeschoollifestyle
Today is my baby girl’s 5th birthday. She’s the baby we weren’t quite ready for and now can’t imagine life without. She’s equal parts spunky and sweet, feisty and funny, all rolled into one beautiful little girl. Her biggest dream right now is to do school with her siblings. And in 3 weeks she’ll be seated behind her own antique desk that so many children sat at through the years for their first day of school. I won’t have to be sad that my baby is leaving me and going off to Kindergarten, because I will have the amazing blessing of teaching her myself. I will get to watch her excitement over learning new letters. Putting those letters together and forming words. Reading her first book. All those milestones will be mine to enjoy as her mommy AND teacher. We will go on field trips together, count to 100, sing and dance, learn Bible verses, color and paint. All this and more, together with her brothers and sister. What an incredible honor to raise these 4 miracles. So as we celebrate Molly and the gift she is to our family, we will also be joyful in knowing we get to keep her close just a little bit longer. Raise her to love her God and country before she spreads her wings and leaves our nest all too soon. Mommy loves you, Chunky Nugget! Now let’s go make your second biggest dream come true...a day in NYC. 😄💕 #homesweethomeschool#letthembelittle
