Vía @ortaluis15 - FEAR OF THE MARATHON
I had a wonderful time here in Germany. I ran a 2:16:30 marathon (2m 19s improvement) and gained a lot of experience. I accomplished many goals, but like always, there is a lot to improve and work on. The marathon takes time, but I'm happy to be improving even if is not at the rate I was hoping for.
Some of the things I feel like I accomplished:
1- I enjoyed the experience.
2 - I was ready for it.
3 - I was not afraid.
4 - I never bonked.
5 - The distance felt ok.
6 - I was always confident.
7 - The last 10k were manageable.
8 - Positive when the rain was killing the pace.
9 - Made it to the race healthy.
I can't think of many mistakes on the first 30k of the race, they all came the last 12k even though I was feeling good. The rain made it really hard, but I still have a lot to improve in the last 10k:
1 - Waking up.
2 - Being more aggressive.
3 - Going with people when they pass me.
4 - Close hard instead of "just get there"
5 - Wanting it more.
I'll take this race as a "win" because of how much I learned, but mainly because I lost my FEAR OF THE MARATHON.
2 - Estaba siempre listo.
3 - No tuve miedo.

Live From America’s Favorite Running Trail This Morning ---
The Houston Striders made good today on their pledge to help Houston put itself back together after Harvey left all of us wondering which way was up. Memorial Park Conservancy – home to the Heart of Houston Running 🏃♀️🏃♂️🚶♀️🚶♂️- was no exception. The Striders presented a check today for $23,000 to help the Park rebuild. That was on top of the Strider’s contribution of $15,000 earlier this year. Thanks to all of our #HoustonHalf runners who made this possible. #HoustonStrong!!”💪 #RunHouston#RunWithMe#HoustonHalf#Houston10K#MemorialParkHouston

I'm racing this weekend! Decided last second on @chevronhoustonmarathon as a chance to qualify for the World Half Marathon Championships in Valencia, Spain this March. Coach Eyestone is the @usatf team lead, so I'd love to join him. We had decided that if we saw a glimmer of Fitness prior to this race, that I try to qualify. We saw a glimmer.

The 1st @chevronhoustonmarathon for the Harriers after our rebirth was definitely one to remember.
Marathon weekend was filled with countless elite encounters, while a handful of the Harriers were elite themselves.
The cold and crisp day was the perfect stage as the Marathon and Half Marathon were met with BQs, PRs, celebrations, and even the unfortunate disappointments.
Overall, the Harriers came out and made their presence felt. The Harriers couldn’t have been more excited to run their city, and we are already looking forward to next year...but 1st we need to get some of our runners ready for Boston 2018!
