To be honest, the impression in my head of Bukchon Hanok Village was completely different from what I see. Perhaps I had expected it to be like Kyoto, where olden streets had been restored and preserved. What I see instead are a mix of modern and olden Hanoks, many of whom are still privately owned while others converted into homestays and tea houses. It’s been preserved to showcase it’s 600 year history but there’s been mix of old and new. Many of the old Hanoks has been torn down to make way for office buildings and more modern structure. Others rebuilt or modernised to reflect the change of times, urbanisation and growing population. Only some such as in Bukchon are preserved recently and perhaps as growing awareness and the desires to preserve history and heritage grow, there will be more work placed into making the place more immersive. Fortunately for us, that preservation efforts mean that Bukchon has the largest cluster of traditional hanok in Seoul. Despite my first impressions, this is still my favourite spot to visit in Seoul.
"See the line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me and no one knows, how far it goes if the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me. One day I'll know, if I go there's just no telling how far I'll go."

I've seen the world, done it all
Had my cake now
Diamonds, brilliant, in Bel-Air now
Hot summer nights, mid July
When you and I were forever wild
The crazy days, city lights
The way you'd play with me like a child
I shared some photos we’re printing for our photo shelf wall on my story yesterday. They will all be printed in black and white and I’ll mix in art. I love printing my own photos and having stories and memories behind them!
Last fall, I decided to take a break from social media to work on being more present in life. Since then, I slowly stopped taking photos and it made me realize that I wasn’t taking photos for myself to look at, I was taking them so others could enjoy them...Long story short, I missed taking and sharing photos with you all, so I’m back!
