You may not be able to tell now, but it wasn't very long ago that this beautiful historic courthouse was in such a state of disrepair that it was actually condemned! The Leon County Courthouse was built in 1886, in the Renaissance Revival style.
A big hiccup occurred at the time of the building of the structure, when a misunderstanding between county commissioners and the contractor arose...and it cost the county twice the original estimated amount.
Today, after a 7 year long process that was completed in 2007, the Leon County Courthouse is open again, and looking just as beautiful as it was in 1886!
My idea behind this series was to reveal the natural beauty in women. Organic, raw, untouched. No makeup, fixed eyebrows, or the hiding of freckles. We go to bed at night next to our loved ones after we've taken everything off of our faces. It's so much more; I find a sense of vulnerability when we uncover our true selves. I wear makeup as do millions of others, but at the end of the day, every one of us takes it off at some point.
Thank you to my wonderful friend @mobyrd for being my model! Now onto the next portrait in this series! Stay tuned! ❤️
Mother’s Day gift from the son. WHATABURGER charm. It’s a TEXAS thing...the fact I always order a #2 DOUBLE MEAT combo, WHATASIZED has nothing to do with it. At least that’s my story and I’m sticking to it! #ilovewhataburger#ilovetexas#texashumor
Today it’s all about celebrating the tiny victories of life... and watching my little sister graduate college this Saturday will be priceless. 🎓. Its means a lot especially since she was able to accomplish something I never did. And I hope one day, one or both of my kids follow in her footsteps and continues their education after high school.
I understand college may not be for everybody but it’s so important for me to teach my boys that no one gets to their greatness potential in life by luck. It truly takes hard work and dedication. I try to explain to them the struggles of “being an adult” sometimes alter the path you imagine for yourself as a kid. So whatever choice they choose when the time comes... we will be there cheering for them, encouraging them not to give up, and contribute that parental advice even when they don’t even ask for it.
Because as their parents we understand the struggle far too well. We have definitely beat the odds and truly fortuned to have people in our lives who saw greatness in our eyes and appreciate the hidden talents we brought to the table. 🙏🏼. Who knew the boy didn’t finish high school is now aiming for his journeyman license as a electrician to better provide for his family. & the young girl turn mom with no life experience has been working for the same company almost nine years (this summer) and is now starting her own business as a photographer.
There are so many tiny victories to celebrate. But it wouldn’t be full filling if I couldn’t share it with my family & friends. (That’s means you, right there that reading this post.) We love to be inspired to be better than we once was and hopes our story is the motivation one needs to keep going after their dreams and goals.
Let me know what tiny victory was we celebrating today?
