🛑 To start with my picture.... before anyone goes ape shit and hits me with a “THATS RACIST” comment - take the educated approach to this and understand it isn’t racism if it’s a statistical fact. Id like to also ask you to read the ENTIRE post because I may surprise you. 🛑 .
I’m am the very last person on social media to claim racial injustice. I believe in equality and I have faith in humanity as a whole to believe that we are on the right path. .
In recent months however something duplicitous and unscrupulous has been amiss in the real estate community. Something that I have never seen or experienced.... and I’d like to hear from some of my colleagues as to whether you’ve experienced it as well. .
There’s a term in real estate called #STEERING. It is an ILLEGAL Real Estate practice in which real estate professionals guide prospective home buyers towards or away from certain neighborhoods based on their race. .
Next up:: Home Owners Associations .
Why would there be a minimum credit requirement of 670 even 720 when they do not extend you credit?????? The properties are deed restricted, meaning if you don’t pay your association fees, special assessments, and uphold the community bylaws - they can foreclosure on your property. (I’ve oversimplified this for the sake of the post being brief. .
The only thing that makes sense is that they are purposely screening buyers on race. They can’t deny a buyer or tenant based on race but being that statistically minorities have lower scores - they get to steer them AWAY from their communities.
My question:: has any other loan officer or realtor experienced this because I’d very much like to bring this up to our State Representatives and stop this unfair practice by Home Owners Associations.
