🌞When mommy tells you to wear long pants to play in the grass, and sprays you with #bugsprayHJL head to toe, there's a reason. It isn't to torture you. It's to protect you from being a bug buffet.
🌞And then later that night when mommy is cleaning up from your fun in the yard, putting your bikes and scooters away, cleaning up baseballs, and wrapping the sprinkler back up, after you've long been asleep for awhile, she realizes she's just taken one (or a few!) for the team.
🤦🏻♀️D'oh! I know better. And now I'm paying the price. BUT, #theresanoilforthat and I love taking a minute to think about my oils in new ways.
🌞We usually get into a habit of reaching for certain oils because that's just what you've always done (peppermint/lavender/melaleuca for bug bites anyone?).
🌞And when people ask me what oil to use for this or that, I often will remind them that oils are such a personalized experience. Enjoy the journey of flipping through your reference guide, seeing which oils have certain properties that you need as the seasons change, then blend up some rollers ahead of time so you're ready and don't have to rush through this very important step in your own learning. Oils are not one size fits all!
🌞Grateful I had my bug bite stick already blended.
Why did I use these 3?
1️⃣Copaiba: Reduces blemishes and redness on the skin (hence why it is in my neroli skin serum --> #serumHJL!), allowing my skin to heal faster. In the past, my bug bites would last almost 2 weeks! Not anymore!
2️⃣Deep Blue: soothing and cooling to any warm inflammation around the bug bite to prevent me from wanting to scratch and irritate it even more. It even has an element of numbing to help it from swelling.
3️⃣Purify: soothes irritation from bug bites (and bonus, it contains citronella and cilantro which bugs hate for any re-occuring offenders!). I use 10 drops ea then top with a carrier oil in a 10ml roller from @therootandpetal, and roll in circular motions over and around the outer margins of the bite to prevent any additional irritation.
🌞I hope you'll give this a try!
Whew, this 3-D puzzle was no joke! We do lots of puzzles at our house, but this one took my son and I days to complete. Really cool model of a castle, though. Can you believe we got this at a thrift store for $1 and not one piece was missing? (I think the previous owner gave up and never finished it, lol) 🏰
If speaking kindly to plants helps them grow, imagine what speaking kindly to humans can do. 🌿

My #mommyandme ab circuit. I try to get outside with Evy everyday, and today we found some shade to do something different than the stroller. I am glad Evy had some time to stretch out too while I got a little ab burn in 🔥. It was fun! .
Do each exercise for 30 seconds or sets of 10.

This season of motherhood is messy. Stickiness covers my house and we change outfits every time we eat. We go through sippy cups like it’s our job and diapers are always full.... but this season is also beautiful. We are learning to be more independent. We are exploring and learning new things everyday. There is laughter and joy in the smallest of things. Sometimes it is easy to look at our mess and miss the beauty. Slow down today. Whatever you messy season looks like, find the beauty in your mess. I promise it’s there.
Cooperation: The ability to balance one's own needs with the needs of others.
This is an essential skill that boys learn and develop starting as an infant. If boys do not learn to balance competitiveness with cooperation, they may face social isolation in their peer groups.
Cooperative skill building begins at home, some suggestions for eliciting cooperation from your son are outlined below:
Involving boys in chores at an early age helps them learn to work cooperatively within their family (see previous post on why your kids should be doing chores - or link in bio).
Give boys choices instead of demands. Offering two acceptable options for behavior will elicit cooperation and build a son's ownership of his own choices. Demands or Commands will likely be met with resistance or defiance, so avoid those (yes it is hard)!
Praise cooperative actions when children are playing with peers or helping at home. Be specific and you will likely see more of this cooperation in the future!
