Simen Krueger knows a thing or two about skiing well. An unfortunate fall and broken pole early in the Olympic Skiathlon left him in last place. He stayed focused on form, relied heavily on his fitness, and methodically passed all 62 of the best skiers in the World to earn his first Olympic Gold Medal. The only way to get better is to know what “better” is, and then practice getting better. Doing the same training—without understanding why it’s making you better—over and over and expecting a “better” result is insane and counterproductive. If u want to get better surround yourself with the best coaches, trainers, and athletes. Bring us your body, and we’ll make it better! 💪⛷💯 #billnurge#hardcoretrainingcenter#nevergiveup#trainsmart#trainforlife#trainforsports#nordiclife#nordicracing#fitnessmotivation#sunvalley#ageisjustanumber

Great restaurants in Bend, OR!!! Showed up at this fine establishment post 50k skate race—sporting a hefty 2,500 kcal deficit—and they were happy to help me reconcile my blood sugarless balance sheet 😁 Can’t remember the last time I had a chocolate-dipped mint-chip-filled waffle cone😜So happy to end the winter with a couple of back to back really strong 50k races. Of course I love the process of having goals and working my a$$ off but it’s always nice when all of the elements—skis, wax, fitness, power, technique, courage—play well together on race day and create something beautiful. No substitute for this feeling of deep-seated satisfaction. Can’t buy it. And it’s really hard to earn, but so worth it. Big thanks to everyone on my Team who helped me get to my “happy place.” 🤪⛷🏅 #billnurge#natynurge#pioneermidwest#hardcoretrainingcenter#nevergiveup#nevertoold#fitover55#benandjerrys#fitnessmotivation#nordiclife#nordicracing#nordictownusa#bendoregon
Home and exhausted from a full week of Nordic Junior Nationals in Utah. A 10km classic, a 10km skate, a sprint and a 10km team relay. Great to reunite with friends who have dispersed around the country and all of the Far West families. Time to start training for next year in Alaska! #xcjuniornationalchampionships#soldierhollow#nordicracing
Cookies for the U16 Maine State Nordic team, racing in NY this weekend. I’m donating these, along with chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and 2 kinds of muffins ... it’s good to have a Lind on your team 😂
Nordic racing is a lot like a box of chocolates. You never know exactly what you’re going to get, but you know for sure that the rewards you reap from challenging your muscles and mettle in a race far outweigh the opportunity to sit on the sidelines and be a critic. 😊 Happy to hang with the top 10 for 10k’s 💪and ALWAYS glad to have the young Pro’s showing us what is humanly possible, while the rest of us demonstrate what is ostensibly human. Effort is the measure of the athlete; not seconds back from the fastest finisher. Be brave enough to challenge yourself in whatever you do💪❤️💥 #billnurge#bouldermountaintour2018#sunvalley#nordictownusa#nordiclife#nordicracing#trainsmart#hardcoretrainingcenter#trainforlife#fitover55
Essex was well represented today at their meet at Colchester High School. It was awesome to get out and see the Hornets in action!

Big shout out to all of the Masters World Cup Organizers and volunteers for putting on a first class event 💯 Congrats to all of the racers who got the results they wanted 😃and hats off to the racers who didn't. 😩Sometimes no matter how hard, and how long, and how perfectly you prepare for something, it just doesn't come together when it's "supposed" to. The reality is that everything came together perfectly for yesterday's Masters World Cup 30k skate race except for two things: zero experience on hard packed icy manmade snow, and skis that were so incredibly fast it was difficult to simply stand on them. My dream of being out in front and skiing away from the best age groupers in the World became a reality--at least for a little while--until I fell hard and fast on a slippery tight turn. Not once. Not twice. Three times my 72kg frame hit the ice doing 20+ mph. Nobody's fault but my own. I couldn't make the necessary adjustments to radically modify my SV high altitude snow technique and make it work on frictionless skis and a greasy manmade track. The falls ravaged my back and torqued my shoulders rendering me damaged goods for the rest of the weeks racing. Hands down the worst "race" of my life. And yet this was coming off of the best year of training and technical improvements. This past year of intense and focused training could be considered a complete waste of time if all that mattered was the end result. But the reality is that the result is nothing more than the cherry, on top of the icing; on top of the cake. If you love what you're doing and thoroughly enjoy the process of preparing, there is no failure. Enjoying the process trumps getting the result every time. Would I do it all over again? Absolutely!!! Tomorrow is the first day of training/process. 💪❤️💫 #billnurge#hardcoretrainingcenter#fitover55#nordiclife#nordicskiing#nordicracing#trainforsports#trainsmart#trainforlife#processoveroutcome
