This building is beautiful. If you ever get the chance to stroll the street of Oxford when it's empty. You should, you need to, it should be on your bucket list. It's absolutely magical.
I love Oxford, the architecture is phenomenal, for me the buildings are examples that people created buildings not just for the purpose of use, but these buildings were created to be awed upon. They have personality and beauty, till this day this monument is standing the test of time in history.
St. Thomas More was born into a well to do #English family in 1478. His father was a successful lawyer who used his wealth and influence to provide the best education for his son. Thomas studied under the #ArchbishopofCanterbury and attended #Oxford University and then law school. He almost abandoned law to enter the priesthood but ultimately decided against it and ran for parliament and got married. More had four children with his first wife who died six years into their marriage. He married again a short time later to a wealthy widow so that she might help him care for his children.
Thomas’ political career quickly took off and he soon found himself as secretary and personal adviser to #KingHenryVIII, and then #ChancellorofEngland.
The two were unlikely friends due to the differences in their temperament, but together the duo rallied against the heresy of Martin Luther’s revolt against the Church, with the King earning the title of Defender of the Faith for his book Defense of the #SevenSacraments. This friendship would not last when the King’s desire for a new wife and heir put him at odds with church. The king tried to have his marriage to Catherine of Aragon annulled when she could not produce him
an heir and his love affair with Anne Boleyn but he was denied. The king broke with Rome and declared himself head of the Church in England and demanded everyone sign the Oath of Supremacy. St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More refused acknowledging the Primacy of the #Pope. Enraged the King had Thomas flung into the #TowerofLondon, hoping he would waver under threat of execution. Thomas did not. While imprisoned Thomas prepared himself for death. When
the time of the execution came Thomas had his rosary in hand. As he knelt to await the headman’s axe, the executioner reportedly begged the saint’s pardon, who rose up, kissed the man on the cheek and forgave him, knelt back down, and executioner took his head. The King did not attend. #CoolSaints#saintoftheday#martyr#sanctityofmarriage#catholic#religious#jesus#God#ChurchOfEngland#Anglican#Episcopalian#counterreformation#protestantreformation#protestantrevolution
Term finished, internship finished, left the office early and second year is done! Every day has proved another monument to God’s faithfulness and amazing grace - I’m thankful for a God that never changes!
‘It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.’ ~ Lamentations 3:22-23

🇬🇧 One of my favourite restaurants from the last times! It wouldn’t need much more than this beautiful hanging wisteria to attract new clients, but it also has amazing cocktails and food! 🍽🍹😍
🇧🇷 Um dos meus restaurantes favoritos dos últimos tempos! Não precisaria de muito mais do que essa trepadeira de flores suspensa para atrair novos clientes, mas também tem coquetéis e comida incríveis! 🍽🍹😍
an easy, effortless friendship and the sun going down over Christ Church is one of the most idyllic moments I’ve had in these supremely perfect few days I’ve been back in Oxford (so far). grateful, always.
