I've never stood above the clouds until today. We hiked from the bottom to the top! (Pikes Peak, Colorado)
Elevation- 14,115' ft
Energy level after hiking - very low
Mental satisfaction at summit- 100%
I’ve never experienced anything like this before. Colorado is the most naturally beautiful place I’ve ever been to. The pictures just don’t do it justice. Luckily my brother got married or else I would’ve probably never made it here. #GardenOfTheGods#PikesPeak#CavesOfTheWinds
This picture was taken at the base of Pike's Peak in Colorado ❤️ . I wish I could have captured what happened two minutes earlier. I have taken up photography as a hobby, and for the most part been behind the camera or have wrangled Blake to be behind the camera. When I was taking pictures at the base of the mountain, I thought to my self--"I reallllyy want a family photo." Since there were no second shooters around besides the occasional elk & Big Foot, I was going to check if there was a self timer. There was! Except, I didn't have a tripod. Instead, I had a little foothill.
So, I climbed up the little foot hill, feet clad in wedges, and tried to balance the camera on my case & a couple twigs. Then, I told Autumn and Blake to hold their smiles and wait for me to press the button & run. I pressed the button & the count down began.
1s. I tripped on my camera strap.
2s. I was tilting forward with leg still attached to camera strap.
3s. Leg free.
4s. I caught eyes with Autumn who is now really smiling.
5s. I began my descent down the mountain. .
6s. I began my first somersault
7s. I finished my first somersault
8s. I began my second somersault. .
9s. I finished my second somersault. .
10s. Camera snaps 10 pictures of the ground.
All this to say, pictures aren't always worth a thousand words. 😉
