“Being mean to you isn't against the law,” a Portland, Ore., officer told a lesbian couple. An obviously drunken man was yelling homophobic and misogynistic slurs at the couple who did not seem to provoke any of the outrage. The man prided himself in his ability to “beat the shit out of fucking dykes,” calling one member of the relationship a cow repeatedly. “You think you scare me? You're a fucking woman,” the drunken man explained when the couple refused to cower before him. The incident lasted until the drunken man’s friends come in between the three and bring him inside of their house. Messages of pride and love were written on the street in front of where the incident had occurred within the following days which were reported as vandalism by the home owner and friend of the drunken man and removed by the city. Officers refused to help the couple file for a misdemeanor against the man saying that they should “ignore,” the slurs. Officers incorrectly informed the couple that there had to be violence for an incident to be considered a hate crime when the law clearly states that someone can be charged for a misdemeanor for, "Intentionally, because of the person’s perception of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, disability or national origin of another or of a member of the other’s family, subjects the other person to alarm by threatening:
(A)To inflict serious physical injury upon or to commit a felony affecting the other person, or a member of the person’s family..." The city of Portland is looking further into the situation and recording of the event but it seems as though no justice will be served to the man who verbally assaulted these women.

After what seems like almost a year in the making, L(ai)yers will finally be released this month! I'm finished with all the drafts of the tracks & currently sequencing/mixing them at this very moment. A surge of all the great music that came out this summer truly inspired me to get into the zone I have. I've also been learning not to be too overly critical about my work; just allowing my intuition to flow. It's going to be a pretty balanced tape with elements of that PDX flavor! It'll also be my last beat-tape as I will be focused on building my producer credentials with real passionate/creative artists.
Anyway I'll be dropping by surprise, so keep an eye out. More great things to come! • @firstname.lastname@example.org 🌫🌹🌳🌌🌃 #GoingUp
One last airport sunrise at the end of this travel run I have been on. Love this work of helping people #communicatebetter but ready to spend some time at HQ planning out the rest of the years adventures! More to come from #portlandoregon and the #PDCconference before the week is out.
