This time last year, we were on our first big adventure that Jasper took us on. •
Just a couple of weeks after loosing Jasper, feeling totally broken but not wanting to spend the summer at home, and feeling a bit reckless and not really caring about too much, I told Matt I wanted to blow some savings and go away. (I’d been saving for a ‘rainy day’ and it definitely was pouring with rain.) I half jokingly suggested Canada as we had always wanted to go. On looking for possible destinations in Canada where was the first place that popped up.....? Jasper National Park! So it was decided. We had to go. It was ‘Jasper Magic’.☺️⭐️💙
Less than two months since we lost our little boy, the pain still so raw, but it was the best thing we could have done and I feel so fortunate we were able to go. Of course there were sad moments and moments we felt we shouldn’t be there, but it was the first time since we lost Jasper that we hadn’t cried every single day. I also liked being ‘anonymous’. People wouldn’t know our story and while we love talking about Jasper, at the time, it was nice not to have to talk about what had happened all the time. We travelled from Calgary through Banff and Jasper National Parks then on to Vancouver and Victoria, spending several days in each location. It was just magical. The fact we felt that Jasper had taken us there made it that much more special and we saw such spectacular sights including a couple of black bear encounters. (It’s where the idea for Jasper bear came from.🐻💙⭐️)
It will always be a special place to us and we will be back one day without a doubt.
Pyramid Lake Island 🌏
Fact of Climate Change: Shrinking ice sheets. The Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have decreased in mass. Data from NASA's Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment show Greenland lost and average of 281 billion tons of ice per year between 1993 and 2016, while Antarctica lost about 119 billion tons during the same time period. The rate of Antarctica ice mass loss has tripled in the last decade. 💚 @nasa#climatechange#protectnature#moody_nature#pyramidlake#jaspernationalpark#albertacanada
