Heck yes! #tracktuesday is done!
I opted to do the speed work from the Nike Training plan instead of the one with everyone else. I finished earlier than expected so I did 100m of lunges like I used to do in junior high.
Also, I did 8 intervals instead of 7 since I forgot to stop the warm up section. And I did 600m at 7:50/mile that wasn't tracked. Very out of character for me, but it felt alright. 👍
I got to the track late thanks to traffic, so I cut a few of the repeats down.
The first two were 600m at "10K pace" but I obviously can't do that for speed work 😂 and I can't remember which button is the lap button either. That second interval (the circled one) I ran almost half the distance before I glanced down and saw it was paused. Ugh.
Then I did 400m x 2 at "5K pace" which wasn't that different from the 10K pace. But I felt good at that pace.
Finally I did 300m x 3 at "fast pace" and I managed to get faster each time! 🏃💪 My overall pace is stupid off thanks to me being stupid and not turning off the timer when I was done and talking to people. 🙋

It was such a good run today.
Elizabeth kicked my butt, and I'm not gonna complain. Mile 2 was almost 9 min, so much faster than I normally do on hills.
Super excited about really getting into marathon training! Bring on the miles! #chevronhoustonmarathon
Today has been awesome! After a good run this morning, I still managed to get some speed work done with my favorite LR running buddy, Mary! It was suggested to do 8 reps of 600m intervals. I ended up doing 6 and Mary did 7. It was stoopid hot with very little consistent wind so I'm pretty proud of this workout.
Tuesday mornings are for running.
And I love that there is a group of ladies who meet during the summer. 🏃♀️ They even extended the running camp for 2 more weeks!
The temp was down a bit today, so I was game for 5 miles when Jen suggested it. And I'm so happy I had her with me. Company is vital when I am covering more than 3 miles 😝 Especially on those hills!
No orchestra at church this morning meant I could safely go for a long run with a group. And I'm so happy I went.
I was a tad later than everyone else but I managed to catch up with some of the guys. Jack and Chris were nice enough to let me hang with them and talk enough to keep me distracted 😁
I intended to only get 6 miles in, but I'm just too competitive and stubborn. So I stayed with them the whole time, and they stayed with me when I had to walk up the hill.
It felt amazing to finish strong.
I got him to #sundayrunday🏃
Some lazy 17 year old thinks 730am is early 🙄 But we went for some easy miles this morning. That stinking hill got us again though. (He chose to go up it, btw)
It feels so good to cover miles before the day really starts. Now to stream church with @geyerspringsfbc and work on school stuff.
It's a good Sunday.

Hahaha, these were a drop-n-dash donation! Bring in your running shoes to be donated anytime!
I got my favorite person ever (Caleb James) to join me for some slow mileage in this heat. We took walking/talking breaks and inhaled a crap ton of water after 3 miles.
I love running with family. Too bad I didn't think to put on sunscreen. 🙄
It's been a wonderful day.
Church this morning with an awesome message and a tribute to honor the military.
Then a good run after a little rain. I had to take advantage of the cooler weather and lace up.
The first two miles felt awesome and barely like I was trying to run fast. Such a good feeling. 🏃👍
Now to stuff my face with stir fry while catching up with friends.
I might be a little crazy. There was no official run with the group due to the stupid heat. (that didn't stop the majority of us from going out anyway 😂🏃) I took it easy. Walked when I needed. Stopped for water. Even gave up trying to conquer the hills.
I still ended up dripping sweat at the end. 😓
I cut the number of intervals down a bit due to the heat. And I kept the pace kinda conservative since I have been awake since 330am and need sleep...
But I feel so good after a hard workout. It makes me a happier person, which is good for everyone I talk to. 😅
Mile 5 of the Ouachita Trail 50 included a Class 3 scramble over Pinnacle Mountain. Reaching the top to turn around and see this was amazing. And then we ran 45 more miles to finish my first 50 miler!
2018 is a big year for me. It has been 10 years since ridding my body of cancer. The years since 2008/2009 have been a journey of reclaiming physical and mental health, and 2018 is just a showcase of the dedication to an outside, active lifestyle.
It's only April. Stay tuned for more!!
If anybody asks you who I am, just stand up tall, look ‘em in the face, and say “I’m that star up in the sky. I’m that mountain peak up high. Hey I made it; I’m the world’s greatest.”
Didn’t get to ring that PR bell this time around, but I earned this bling. I ran my race, and I finished. Half marathon # 3 ✅
