It’s hard to believe once something I put hours of hard work and sweat into is just over. The trepidation going into the race due to not knowing how the elevation (& the miles) would affect me. The realization that I had to just trust my (not so perfect) training, trust my fitness base, trust my mind and believe that I could go out there and get it done! I truly fell in love with the energy of this race & with the town of Leadville!
I’ve been teaching my fitness classes as usual this week and listening to my body before getting back into the training groove. I was looking forward to a nice run this morning, but the weather didn’t cooperate⛈and I was just fine with that. That’s the best part after running a race like this & having a little time to prepare for my next training cycle. No pressure today. I think my body needed the extra sleep and my back wasn’t feeling so great yesterday...So, I used today as one more bonus rest day, I loved it & I won’t let myself feel guilty for it.
As a runner & fitness fanatic, it’s hard for me to not feel like a slacker on a day like this. But, I’m getting better at it! Just like I went into this race a little undertrained, I wasn’t injured & I didn’t stress over it. I know I need to recover well and not start training for NY until my body truly feels ready...like maybe tomorrow already!🤨😁
All of my wildest running dreams are going to come true. With. This. Watch. 🌟Ermagawd! This is amazing! I’m still getting used to all the features but wow! Better yet - my husband is the new benefactor of my old Garmin. This is a big deal. He’s not a runner per say he played football in HS and college but he’s been running and is up to 2 miles. I even changed the bright purple band to black for extra manly style. We ran one race together when we were first married 14 years ago (swipe for a baby pic of us!) and it was only because the race was held at Shea Stadium before they tore it down to build Citifield. He’s a Mets fan and being able to run in the stadium along the warning track over home plate giving Mr. Met a high five was pretty neat. Maybe he’ll do another race someday with me. For now - on to bigger and brighter gadgets and data! P.S. thank you @shanthomas87 and @i.run.to.eat for your input as I shopped around! ❤️ #garminfenix5#imrunning#teamtiux#marathonerslife#runninggadgets#runnerd#runjumpgo#momentumjewelry#runallthemiles#happyrunner#garmin#gottarun#justrun#rundone#runnersconnect#juststartrunning
I’m not sure if I actually love morning runs, or if it’s because they happen so infrequently. Either way, I was happy to hit the road, enjoy the quiet and the “cool” temps! So thankful that the Ontario heat wave is over!

Most days all I want to do is run, but occasionally (on days like today) moving sounds like the absolute last thing I want to do. Found some clothes that actually matched for motivation and managed to get myself to the gym for some nice slow treadmill miles. Not going to lie, super glad to be done ✌️
Thankful that I was able to join @streets101nyc today with @greglaraia! It was hot!!! Did the 5K course without stopping like I wanted and @ahealthysliceofpai@od1775 and I did cemetery hill because those hills weren't enough 🤣😂! First time running with Streets and they are incredible!!! Thanks @ahealthysliceofpai for the company 🙌🏾 more summer adventures to come.
