So it’s decided. I’m running The Frankfurt Marathon on October 28th - Goal: 2:23:27 (British Under 20 Record) 🇩🇪🏃🏻♂️✅
After lots of changing my mind in the end I had to go with the race that gives me the best chance of running fast. And that is Frankfurt. Definitely looking forward to it, Record or no Record I want to just put out a fast marathon time so I have one to my name, and I can work off it going forwards. A while away yet and lots of work to do though, obviously since London it’s been a struggle but looking to take 2 or 3 weeks to build up mileage after Sunday’s Torbay Half Marathon then at least 12 weeks at 120-150 miles a week before tapering (a lot less of a taper than before London!). For the rest of this week though I want to run a PB at tomorrow’s 10k and then try to get on the podium at Torbay Half Marathon on Sunday to pick up some prize money. Will be very tough, but will try nonetheless. Doesn’t really matter if I come 3rd or 10th, so why not go for it! 😆👍🏃🏻♂️
If you don’t share your evening holiday outfit are you even on holiday 🙃🌴 We are all ready and heading out of the hotel tonight to the nearest resort for a bite to eat and a few cocktails 🍹 #ootd#ootdfashion#ootn#holiday#summernights
Great RUNNING Story 🏃🏻💨💨👍
When I ran a PB in the 2010 Rome Marathon, in what can only be described as an ‘interesting’ outfit.. I think I was raising money for cancer research that year. I hardly recognise myself of 8 years ago, 18kg heavier, not a clue what I was doing, no strength at all, to now when I’m running mid 2:30’s marathons and dedicate my whole life to running.
My diet was essentially fried and every food I ate was beige in colour, I drank alcohol to excess 2 or 3 times a week and ran to try to keep weight off, but honestly I didn’t enjoy it… Running is hard when you live that lifestyle. I barely ran another step after Rome, it was five years before I’d lace up my trainers properly again. My mid 20’s partying phase had begun!
My outlook towards running now is so different. I run for fun, I run to clear my head, I run to understand myself better, I run to help others, I run to find my limits of what I’m capable of. I turned my life around, as I finally realised that running could give me way more than any party could. It’s bought great friends, quality food, a healthy work/life balance and given me so many goals in life to strive for.
It’s never too late to make some small changes in your life to get where you want to be. Run for the right reasons of course, but run as it brings the better version of yourself out. Believe in yourself, there is nothing special about me, most people could run the times I do it’s just about building that desire to want to do it. And believe me, it feels absolutely incredibly awesome when you finally reach those goals!! Challenge yourself, see what changes you can make today!
I think I’m finding that my prayer life is only as strong as my physical life. Getting my body out of the way in order to listen to what my spiritual person needs to hear is a real thing. My dad was a runner. I always knew he used it as his prayer time, but what if his complete motivation to run in the first place was the PRAYER time instead of just an adequate byproduct of being in shape. I love being fit from the poolside to the mountainside. But what never wears out is being fit in season and out for the gospel and life!
Here we go! 🙌🏻 Week 1 ☝🏻 Technically yesterday was day one, but it was a rest day. 16 weeks out from my first 50k and it's time to grind! 🔥Kicked it off this morning with 6.2 miles. I'm feeling really good going into this training cycle, and I'm ready to shift my focus from pace to distance/time on my feet. Anyone else getting started with training for the fall? What are you training for? 🏃🏻♀️

Kenyan marathoner Michael Kunyuga testing the true limits of the human body. In the words of Prefontaine "to give anything less than your best is to sacrifice your gift" and it looks like Kunyuga has given it everything in this race. Even when it looked like he was out for the count he finished on his hands and knees - the true Kenyan spirit!

#roadtohalfmarathon#eindhoven
