Today is 4 months exactly since I woke up in the ICU after my emergency 💔 #openheartsurgery.
It’s amazing to see how I’ve recovered when I look back.✌🏻2nd picture is today, 👉🏻last picture was the day I work up (Feb 17). In these 4 months I’ve managed to:
✈️ Move from Montreal to #sandiego.
🌴Get a tattoo to represent what I went through.
🏃🏻♀️ Run a Half Marathon ( #rocknrollsandiego 2 weeks ago)
🏅 Sign up and start training for another half marathon next month #rnrchicago.

Running isn’t my workout of choice (more of a yogi/barre lover) but signing up for races helps motivate me to do it anyways. I know it’s good for me but get a mental roadblock sometimes to get started. Then something magical starts to happen and those dreaded morning runs start to be fun and something to look forward to! You don’t have to go fast...you just have to go. 💪 #strongsisterssd#halfmarathontraining
Yesterday’s run was a recovery milestone 🙌🏻 5k in 27:49 with HILLS (PB is 25 mins). Since my surgery, almost 4 months ago 😱, I haven’t been able to get below 30 mins. Recovery is hard ! Yesterday I killed it AND went to @f45_training_lajolla for a cardio workout (Athletica) right after my run, super sweat and all 😂
Working on increasing my endurance again without putting too much pressure on my Achilles. Love the combo of both workouts back to back 😁💪🏻.

My sister helped me hang this in my room this week. The timing was perfect because the itch to start a new beginning, train, compete, and accomplish has been very strong lately. Hanging these medals made me realize that I have not been taking care of my inner athlete for wayyy too long.
I’m now signed up for America’s Finest City half marathon in August in San Diego. It’s been about 2 years since I’ve run this length of race. I’m excited to go on this training journey again - set a goal and crush it! I’ve never really been one to do a before-after comparison, but this last year has had a shitload of changes and curveballs. On the opposite coast, better focus on eating right, exercising smarter, sleeping right, and reducing stress. In one year I’ve gained 25 lbs of muscle, ran a new marathon best to beat my speedy 22 year old self, cut out almost all alcohol, sleep a consistent 8-9 hours, traveled to new places again, upped my photography game, and started meditating and reading more. It’s nice to see the progress physically, mentally, and spiritually. Our lives are always under construction and improvements can constantly be made, so here’s to the second half of ‘18 and 2019!
