I am not a fan of my knees and that’s not why I posted the picture. I had surgery on both my knees over 20 years. So I have 4 scar holes in both my knees. At that time my orthopedic surgeon told me I would have to have them done every 10 years. They said my joints were like crab meat. They realigned my knee caps and said see you in 10. In addition to this I have a bulging disc in my lower back and another bulging disc in my neck. To top things off I have decreased nerve function in my right side L nerve from having shingles when I was 18. So I have one leg bigger than the other. I was not about to let any of these problems stop me from living my life. I share this because many people have medical problems that make them seem like they are unable to do much of anything. I refused to let my bad knees or medical issues stop me and was not about to get my knees worked on every 10 years or any surgeries for that matter. So I moved on to a new orthopedic surgeon and we developed a plan. The fact that I am a personal trainer I was able to understand how my muscles and skeletal system works. So I decided to strengthen all the muscles around those areas to support them from causing more damage. Leg exercises to support my knees, core exercises to support my back and upper body exercises to support my neck. I still am unable to run, wish I could, but the knee pain is difficult to handle. After many years I started to forget about the problems I had and the pain started to decrease. I feel much better today than I did 20 years ago. It is possible to work through all of these ailments and improve you health and way of living.
