Two easy paced workouts for today- mental prep for my ultra this weekend. I'm running unofficially around my area, hoping for minimum 35 miles of trail/road but if all goes according to plan 🤞 further. Considering there are about 156 things that could go wrong i.e. heat, injury, hydration probs, gastro issues, etc... I'm just saying I'll run as far as I can without hurting myself.
So why all this craziness? Jenn Shelton sums it up pretty well by saying: "I never really discussed this with anyone because it sounds pretentious, but I started running ultras to become a better person. I thought if you could run one hundred miles, you’d be in this Zen state. You’d be the freaking Buddha, bringing peace and a smile to the world. It didn’t work in my case - I’m the same old punk-ass as before - but there’s always that hope that it will turn you into the person you want to be, a better, more peaceful person." Now Discovering El Nido, Palawan, Philippines with @thomito12. "This shot is from the Big Lagoon in El Nido. It is typically jam-packed with tourists so we decided to have our trip 2 hours earlier than the others so we can enjoy the place to ourselves. It was definitely worth it!” #thediscoverer#nowdiscovering
Tomorrow Tad and I celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. We'll spend it doing the things we love most: running in the mountains, eating good food, and drinking good wine - courtesy of the French Alps.
