Ever heard somebody say, “I’ll be happy when I have this..” or “I’ll be happy when I have that..” Surprisingly, the number of times I’ve heard of people who apparently live abundant lives, aren’t truly fulfilled. Why is that? Aren’t we supposed to feel happy after we’ve achieved everything we’ve ever dreamed of? I thought that way for the longest time and in my experience, it failed me miserably. Until I realized, I was sold on a wrong belief. My faulty belief system was = make money + buy things that I liked = happiness. I ended up feeling more depressed and more beat up than before I even started. But being depressed and beat up lead me to realize that if I couldn’t create happiness with absolutely nothing, I would never obtain it. That’s when I also realized, it’s a whole system that’s lead us to believe that money is so valuable to the point that we need to kill ourselves for it. On a softer note, what helps you generate your own happiness? 🙂
I’M BACK! I thought I owed you all an explanation of what I’ve been up to and why I’ve been so absent.
I realized my feed has looked a little lonely, and my engagement with you all has been minimal. I want you to know that it is not intentional, and that I value each and every one of you! I am still fully committed to growing this community and one day, traveling the world full-time with the hopes of sharing that with others.
So, where the hell have I been and what have I been up to?
Well, many of you might know that I got married last year and we took a hit financially.
You also know that I’m obsessed with traveling & I just wouldn’t give that up last year, especially during such a stressful time in our lives, so I just contributed to our debt and stress.
Now, I’m going to be completely honest: I had to take a serious look at my finances and find a solution. I started a debt-management plan, which means I now have to fully fund my trips out of pocket, not on credit cards.
I am SO happy and proud of myself for taking that step before it got worse, & I look forward to earning my upcoming trips.
But, it is hard & the timing is difficult. I thrive off of travel and exploring new places, and I’d just started working with some AMAZING brands! I’m hoping that can continue, but I’ll be shifting my focus temporarily.
For now, that means I cannot travel as much. I still have an upcoming trip in Bali in October with @pangeadreams because it’s an investment in my business and future. However, for the next few months until then, I’ll be sharing some more local outdoor adventures, more of my home here in Virginia, and the surrounding states.
I hope you will choose to continue following along and I’ll be back to my typical travel shots in no time! As always, your support means the world to me. Love you all, xoxo, GGG 💕
The roofs of Salzburg 🇦🇹: “Salt Fortress”, UNESCO World Heritage site. Birthplace of 18th century composer Mozart. It was also the setting for the musical movie, The Sound of Music. Such a beautiful city, can’t believe this was already two months ago, feels like it was a dream... #helenastraveldiary#honeymoon
#TBT on a Wednesday. Just taking a moment to appreciate the life of this amazing human being on what would have been his 100th. Thank you for existing, enduring, and leaving the world a better place. Happy Birthday Mandela! ♥️🇿🇦♥️
