The challenge I had set myself was massive for me and I quickly realised that I hadn’t put in enough work to make that step. However I learnt a few key things about myself and what I need to work on.
1. When the leading group go past on the bike get on the back don’t wait 30secs to realise you can keep up and try and bridge the gap by yourself 🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻♀️
2. No thoughts of the end of the race during the first 100m of the swim.
3. Train. Harder and smarter. 🏊🏻♀️🚴🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️
4. Nutrition. Maybe I can’t get away with constant chips and chocolate like I thought I could 🙈
5. Enjoy it. The whole experience from start to finish.
Anyone who has spent much time on a bike knows fit is important. Arguably there is no place that fit matters more than for TT and Triathlon. With the advent of the integrated front end on many TT/tri bikes extension shape has become significantly more important. Big thanks to @51speedshop for thinking about what works and is needed to achieve the optimal position with integrated cockpit bikes. There is no better feeling than getting a bike super dialed. This customer is now set up with his hands at the proper height which will allow for both a more comfortable and faster position. -
And off we go! First race of the year... working towards Ironman 70.3 Cascais Portugal
One more.. cause these kids are just too cute!! 💙💜.. And also a pretty photo to start.. Saturday was just not my day.. first I woke up and I could barely walk... the back of my heal was hurting so bad! No idea what I did.. I sat wrong or something 🙄🤷♀️ anyway spent the day icing it and then went and let the jets in the hot tub beat at it lol! Felt great that evening and decided to go for a 40 mile bike ride so I could hit 100 miles for the week! I headed out of the paved pathway and at 4 miles in.. came to an intersection... where I looked for cars but didn’t slow down enough for the turn and slid right into a curb causing Me,my bike and my water bottles Flying!! My water bottles were all the way across the street! I had just passed a lady that was running.. she stopped and helped me gather everything and put my bike back together. She was nervous I broke my wrist. It swelled up with a huge Hematoma about an inch high! 😱 made sure I could move it all around! I thought I would be good to go and just ride the rest and clean myself up when I got done! I still had 36 miles to go right!? 😬 Then she happened to look at my tires and noticed the big bulge!! 😩 she then said you aren’t going anywhere with that! 😰 I let some air out of my tire and slowly rode back the 4 miles to my car hoping my tire didn’t blow! Made it safely home! Now I just need a new wrist, my bike fixed, and to change my depressed attitude. I’m so grateful things weren’t worse! I’m so thankful I didn’t hit my head or brake anything! Grateful to be alive! Ready to get back out there Riding once things heal up and my bike is fixed! #bikecrashessuck#triathleteproblems#hematoma .

I may be walking around like I was hit by a truck right now, but it was worth every single second of pain. ❤️ Racing yesterday was a true test for me. Keeping my mind in a positive state (along with the amazing support of so many people I love-on and off the course) led me to my first 70.3 age group podium. .
Sitting in the med tent at the finish line, I was scared to let myself believe it because Chatt 70.3 is a rolling start and I was sure someone would cross the finish line at any second to bump me down...but it didn’t happen. My amazing boyfriend was constantly refreshing the IM tracker app and saying, “you’re still in 3rd!” .
I’ve already happy cried like 10 times, y’all. This is a goal I’ve been working towards for 4 years and it took 11 half ironmans for me to achieveit, but I FREAKIN’ DID IT.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I won’t get into all the nitty gritty details, but I’ll have a race report up real soon on my blog. Thank you for all the kind words and congratulations! The support of so many strangers makes my heart so full. ❤️❤️❤️ .
