Empathy, at the end of the day, can often be another way to describe #survivalmode. When your childhood environment is #unsafe, #unstable and #unpredictable, we often develop #hyperawareness of our surroundings in order to stay safe. We tune in to every nuance or shift in tone of voice, facial expression, feeling in the air. Our hair stands up at the back of our necks when voices get raised. This is called #hyperarousal and it means our #nervoussystem is in #overdrive.
Many people say they are #empaths, and #narcissists are drawn to these types of people. But this is not because of the romance associated with calling yourself an empath. When someone is so far outside of themselves, and only in touch with the feelings of others to the exclusion and detriment of their OWN feelings, this is another extreme and polar opposite on the same spectrum as narcissism. Having TOO MUCH empathy for others at the expense of ourselves is no more productive or healthy than having too much interest in ourselves and our interests such as a narcissist does. It is really two sides of the same coin, both being out of whack, and unhealthy in different ways.

#repost This is the type of stuff that will attract attention to the law enforcement! Things like this are the reason why cops will pull us over in the future for absolutely nothing. Then ask us to pop our hoods open and start writing ✍️ tickets! If you’re going to hold carmeets and cruises “PROMOTE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT” Come on guys... Cut off your unnecessary and #unsafe playing around because what you do, will affect others around you. I encourage all car pages on Instagram to promote “A SAFE ENVIRONMENT “ Thanks to all.. #repost
