One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to cook with a local. Sometimes that means baking with an Auntie, other times jumping on the line at a restaurant, or, in the case of this trip, joining a local cooking class at @keswickcookeryschool with @petersidwellmedia .
I knew the day was off to a good start when it began with flat whites, scones, and a garden tour. Over the next few hours, we cooked then ate on repeat as chef lead us through a menu of local flavors with modern take.
I’ll be sharing a few of the recipes on @saltandwind when I’m back stateside like the smoked mackerel with horseradish curd and this uber-easy berry parfait.
Every time I cook with somebody I learn another trick or two and with Peter I learned a quicker way to filet mackerel and a more sophisticated take on this classic British “pud.” Namely, to add elderflower cordial to give a slight but not-too-much sweetness to the dish. Oh, and it helped that the just-picked wild raspberries and strawberries were insanely delicious!

Forgot to post this before! Got this on the plane. It's a Virgin exclusive in duty free i think.
6 Victorias Secret perfumes in stick form. Its a bit like a lip balm consistency! Really handy for popping in your handbag, as they're lightweight. You could put one in your makeup bag, or use it on a night out etc.
I think the balms themselves are a little soft. Thats my only complaint. You need to be careful applying them, and don't lean too hard when putting them on. They smell gorgeous though! I have 3 VS perfumes already, and quite a few body sorays, so i knew I'd love the scents.

Wishing the moghul, who has more than 200 businesses today, a very joyous birthday!
