Day 278: Half Century
For a year now since I have been biking across America I questioned myself if I could bike 50 miles (Half Century). Well today, I biked the fifty and probably won't do this again anytime soon....lol
I didn't get tired at all and could handle the miles and scenery. Legs felt great and cardio work out was awesome. Burned 1,120.7 calories, 3 Hours and 28 Minutes that it took me to bike the fifty miles. The first couple of hours biking when I hit the 25-30 mark wasn't that bad. As I finished the last 15 miles, that's when the bike ride had seemed the longest.
Now, I did take some rests to fuel up, water breaks, and grab a few snacks during the ride. So all that really helped keep the energy and momentum. If it wasn't for the scenery and biking through google streets I doubt that this would have kept my interest. As I rely heavily on the imagery to keep the bike rides exciting and just not counting time and calories or distance.
I did see a few things of interest along my fifty mile journey. When I was biking through Helper, Utah Main Street I saw this auction store front. It wasn't about the store front, it was about the guy checking out the girl with pink jeans. Looks like the girl was with her dad because the man was with brace supports for walking. Possible that the guy was family?? Didn't seem that way because from different angles you can see he was looking....; -) Further up the road there are mountains and I was surrounded in a canyon. Some real nice scenery and made the bike riding enjoyable. The one thing that I did notice and it seemed to change really quickly that the desert is turning to green pastures and scenic with mountains. Kinda of nice to see green grass again.. Salt Lake City I virtually ride...
