During Newport County Free Days this weekend, we’re challenging our visitors to Strike a Pose! Here’s how it works: copy the stance of your favorite portrait or sculpture this weekend, post the photo to social media tagging us at @nptrestoration or #roughpoint and we’ll select a winner to be featured next week! A reminder: all Newport County residents are admitted for free this weekend, $10 for non-county residents.

“In music it’s important to be daring, to allow yourself to experiment even if it means you fail. Doris Duke was a daring woman, a strong woman; she was always looking for new ways forward.” - Francisco Pais
We had the pleasure of hosting a number of talented musicians in Rough Point’s Great Hall this evening for an original contemporary jazz suite, “I Dare You: A Musical Suite Dedicated to Doris Duke”. The piece composed by Francisco Pais and Rafael Piccolotto de Lima was inspired by meaningful moments in Doris Duke’s life, as well as by her wide ranging interests and the places that she lived. We thank them for debuting such a special piece here in Doris Duke’s Newport home!
