Can I be real with y'all?
I accidentally took a bit of a break from social media. Moving is tough and time consuming. I'm not just moving my home - I'm also moving my business. It's a crazy journey that's required a lot of leg work, but I'm excited for the adventures to come!
I also tried this cool thing where I posted a black-and-white image for every color image. It challenged me and forced me to create content that was made for b&w. But it was also wildly exhausting, and it may have been the cause of my frequent social media breaks.
Anyway, I'm going back to posting images that just purely make my heart sing. So here's a #flashbackfriday favorite from one of the first weddings I ever shot. #ambergarrettphoto
Okay, so I know this didn't exactly work...but it was a lot of fun to try. So my inspiration for the Masks We Wear came from my son.
I hollered at him a few days ago and he said, "What the heck all day you are nice and now you take off your mask and harass me." I laughed hard...and it became a joke...but then i thought about how we all put on a mask every day. How it is not "acceptable" to be broken and bruised in the world. So I wanted to try to capture that. Anyways I am new to composite photography so my apologies but I did want to share. When I get it right I will re-share. #themaskswewear#wisconsindellsphotographer#selfportrait#wisconsinphotographer#composite
At least once a day I take a minute to think about how fortunate Edgar and I are. For instance, I took this picture earlier today while hiking at a state park just 10 minutes from our house. We are blessed with the opportunity to spend so much time doing things we love together, which quite honestly, we very rarely get sick of. Most of our weekends are spent hiking and discussing our future hopes and dreams. The best part is, things that used to be dreams for us, are things that we’re now able to make reality. From choosing travel destinations, to family planning, to making career goals. Talking about the future with the person I want to spend it with, is one of my favorite things to do. Thanks for always dreaming and loving life with me, Edgar!
What have you been dreaming about lately?

I taught World Art History for the first time today and I am so excited about it!! I’ve always wanted to teach an art history class, but as second semester got closer I started feeling slightly nervous about it. I mean, teaching an art history class is a lot different than studio classes I’m used to. While we barely even talked about art history today, mainly going over rules and playing fun ice breakers, I can already tell this is going to be one of my favorite classes to teach!

What a great weekend! Edgar and I took our first full hike all the way around Devil’s Lake together. Then this morning, we made it out to Mirror Lake State Park for a few more miles of hiking. The weather was beautiful and it felt amazing to spend so much time outside enjoying the sunshine. How did you spend your weekend?
Feeling extra lucky to live out in this tiny cabin in the woods this week. We finally got a decent snowfall and now everything looks so beautiful with a fresh layer of snow. The roads to town are still treacherous, but the sunrise over the snow covered trees makes it totally worth it. ❄️
Some images just make me giddy inside, and when I step back and look at what I was able to capture, I can't help but to want everyone else see what I see!!! I probably appear to not be paying attention to you at times while looking off in the distance towards the sun....but trust me....it's always because I'm looking for shots like this!!!!
Loved meeting this sweet family and their beautiful baby girl while they were here in Wisconsin Dells on a family vacation:) And shot on the hottest day of the year - I must say all I see is lots of love and smiles:) What a gorgeous bunch!
