And so it goes... Today was the last day of my vinyasa yoga teacher training - nine months of studying, sweating, exploring, laughing and growing with some beautiful souls. 🌙
♥️ #yogateachertraining#grateful

Beautiful day with beautiful people to practice a 360 Flow this morning. I’ve been waiting for so long to practice and teach yoga in Switzerland 🇨🇭. Today was the day! Sun, friends, family and more came to practice and meditate with me. I felt (and still feel) so lucky and blessed to be able to do what I love and to share it with people I love too ♥️! I couldn’t wish for more today. 📷: @giom_f2th merci 🤗 #growonandoffthemat#yogamom#gratitude#friendship#popupyoga
“Endurance is not just the ability to bear a hard thing, but to turn it into glory.”
The Ashtanga Yoga methodology has two styles of practice. These are: Guided classes and Mysore style clases. In the guided classes, the Vinyasa, meaning the synchronization of breath, pose, and movement is called out by the teacher, and the practitioners stick to the count in unison putting to test the depth of practice and stamina gained in the Mysore style classes. Mysore style is a form of self style practice that follows one’s own breath, pace, and count though still under the guidance of a teacher and in the company of fellow practitioners.
On Sundays, I practice Primary series, and on most Sundays, I do a guided style practice under the recorded voice of my teacher Sharath in Mysore, India. It’s the perfect prescription to take practice on lazy Sundays where I just stick to the count of my teacher and get it done without bailing myself out. Today, however, Primary practice was done Mysore style, a better medicine for today when I was feeling all sorts of funkiness.
After having negotiated in my mind that I would take today off from practice because I didn’t quite really rested yesterday, which is my actual day off from practice, I still somehow stepped on my mat to take practice. I decided then to live stream it, for I knew it wasn’t going to be pretty. The idea was for you to see the raw reality of discipline. It was not the glorious practice in front of colorful backgrounds, blue ocean or the like, it was not edited, it was raw practice at my weakest with elusive core, concentration and will under an overly caffeinated and shaky body. It was a late practice after teaching instead of an early practice before teaching, and I felt all out of whack... Yet, I feel all glorious now with this inglorious practice because by showing up when I am not feeling at my best, is where I build the endurance, strength and sustainability for future practices. Boom 💥
Here’s Setu Bandhasana, the last posture of the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series, as I was in the arena today rising strong 💪 #endurancetraining#buildit

I never share pictures from my notebook but here is an example of how my yoga practice is mostly off my mat. Working to better myself everyday and growing past what I’ve been conditioned to do and be by societies standards. The more I grow, the more I can bring healing to myself and to others in need of yoga in our everyday lives. Color also makes learning fun. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Never tried yoga using props? Never tried yoga at all? Always wondered what it was all about but thought you were too stiff, too young, too old, too shy to join a class? Now is the time to give it a go!
I plan on running a 6 week block of classes where the focus will primarily be on using a chair as a prop to practice the asanas.
The benefits of using props include: • an aid to help us perform those asanas which are difficult to perform independently
• achieve and maintain correct alignment during our practice
• stay longer and relax in challenging asanas in order to attain their full benefit.
The classes will most likely be held on a weekday morning. If interested, please comment below, or DM me directly to register your interest.
Please tag or share with your friends and spread the yoga love 🕉💜 #yogaprops#yogapractice#chairyoga#ballymena#galgorm#iyengaryogawithjayne

I returned to my yoga practice on my mat yesterday. I took the time to connect, chant and breathe. It felt really good to move again. My hips and thighs had become so tight from my two week absence from my mat. I thought I could survive without yoga but as soon as I started moving again, I realised how much I had missed it. Sometimes we just have to roll our mat out, stand on it and see what happens. Due to not practising in a while, I felt my yoga practice was deeper. It wasn't familiar. It brought a sense of peace I had not experienced in a while. I reconnected to the much broader reason I practice, to connect with the Divine, to feel something bigger than me and to trust in something outside of myself.

Today, give yourself the most simple and doable of tasks: don’t make stuff worse. Whatever happens, don’t add angry or negative emotions to the equation. Don’t react for the sake of reacting. Leave it as it is. Stop digging. Then plan your way out. | Holiday & Hanselman @dailystoic
I believe we’ve all had and still have days like these, when it is hard not to make things worse by putting our own negative reactions into the equation. Try today and choose not to react. Choose to take a deep breath and let those emotions pass. And then with a clear head, reflect on the situation and on your emotions. 🙏
There are periods when I feel lost and confused, desperate to know myself. I doubt, question and sometimes want to quit. I know in those moments I am looking for purpose.
If someone could just tell me! But the answers are never external. There is no one on this Earth that can stamp out your purpose like a cookie cutter stamps out a perfect shape. Purpose is fluid and unique.
One thing that has thrown me off course is the belief that in order for purpose to be meaningful it has to be huge. It’s like I used to think purpose meant changing the world and that more was better. I wanted to prove that I mattered, that I was here for a reason. I can see now that I was chasing external validation and looking for my purpose in metrics of achievement. But true purpose can not be measured and it certainly isn’t hierarchical or competitive.
True purpose is internal. It’s like the light in the darkness that shines and beckons you forward in moments of loss and failure. True purpose is a call home. Purpose is also accountability, a sense of reckoning with your inner being.
External purpose is not bad. We spend time on goals and projects, needs and desires. We use this as motivation to action. It’s good and necessary. But when external purpose replaces true or internal purpose then all those “things” become hollow and draining, devoid of meaning. A life lived with a true sense of purpose is fulfilling and energizing.
And here’s the secret. Your purpose is intrinsic to who you are. You don’t need to go out and get it anywhere. You also can’t avoid it or mess it up. Don’t worry about being less than because your purpose is in fact huge, bigger than you could imagine. You are an infinite being capable of changing the universe just by being who you are. Your purpose is written into the code of your soul and there is no way you can escape it, deny it or hide from it too long.
Even if you aren’t aware of it your purpose is happening through even. You make a difference in the world. You have a reason for being. Once you see that for yourself, the magic happens. 💗
there is no need to control and force things to happen, you are right where you are supposed to be, start flowing, stop forcing .
