Mid - July
The heat continues however fishing remains good. Again, numbers are down to 10-15 fish a trip but size is still there with the largest around 6 lbs. You have work on them and try different lures. A fluke in the early morning worked well the last couple of weeks with finesse worm presentations for mid-morning. Don't count out the afternoon topwater bite this time of year. There are wolf-packs ganging up on sunfish and tilapia in shallow water. In summary, shallow crankbaits, finesse worms, flukes, trig worms, and topwater frogs worked well during this heatwave. I'm hoping for some rain this fall as we are +20 feet below full pool. There is 65-70% change for an El Nino Fall/Winter which is good news. An El Nino Fall/Winter means a wetter than usual period. Hopefully, the lake will fill up again. Good luck out there.
