A dream came true this morning. They came to me on the couch.

Today my nephew Caleb asked me if I would go on a garden exploration with him. Layla and little Nate ended up joining us. We walked through my Mom’s gardens spying a garden gnome, feeling lamb’s ear, and smelling lemon balm. We ended up at the play house and decided we needed to clean up. Little Nate swept the house while Layla dusted. Caleb went out and picked blueberries, and little Nate made us blueberry stew. We made bouquets and put them in the windowsills of our little home. Afterwards, I did some dirty work and loaded up bags of soldier fly poop from my brother in law’s compost operation. I heard the kiddos playing nearby and found them with the chickens. Cousin camp is a time to be a kid again and remember how the world can be filled with magic.

Cousin camp never disappoints. My dog and I slept right in the middle of that huge bed of cuties. #cousincamp
FIRSTS are my favorite. This morning, Mowgli and Atlas spent some time getting more comfortable around each other. Mowgli is learning to tame that excitement a little. I sat down with both of them and fed Atlas some treats. Mowgli was so chill and just laid there. Then Atlas went over and started playing with Mowgli’s tail. It was a PRECIOUS MOMENT. Also, Mowgli met his cousins yesterday (Louie, Maybelline, and Leo) and went with them on his first trip to Paradise. Mowgli is goofy, loves people, is so easy going. He’s not afraid either. He jumped right in the water and just started teaching himself how to swim. He swam out to the middle, got scared and came back, and then just swam right back out again. That’s my dog:) Near the end of our time at Paradise, Mowgli swam across the hole to greet some new human friends that had just arrived. He made it over and hung for a bit, but when I called him back he got scared to jump off the rock. Going there is sometimes easier than coming back. I finally made it over to him, and he wanted to jump so bad. He kept crouching but then would got scared and frustrated with himself. I gently pulled him in with some tough love, and he made the leap back to our side of the hole. He stayed pretty close for awhile as we walked back up the hill to the car. #dogsandcatsofsummer
