It’s so easy to fall into dark moods and become weighed down with anxieties. It’s also very human and we have all at one time been downtrodden and had the fight beaten out of us.
We are also resilient creatures and on top of that we are endowed with the brilliant ability to change our state, our thinking, our moods and our behaviour.
It’s not easy, granted...but it’s there and within our power to do so. It happens to us all the time. One moment we’re down, deeply troubled and suddenly something unexpected snaps us out of and away from that dark mood and state. It may be a call from a loved one or a picture drawn by one of your children telling you how much they love you. We are snapped out of state regularly but it’s so fleeting at times we barely notice it.
Thoughts can turn on the neurochemicals associated with happiness, joy and peace at just the thought of such an emotion. You can use these skills to snap yourself out from states that have a hold and loom over you like a dark storm on the way.
One decision, one thought, one action can make you rise up out of the darkness below and into the light of a happier place, equally powerful are harmful thoughts that weigh in heavy and take us down to the depths below.
