Introducing #FAFF: Frugal As F!*k Fridays.
I've suddenly got a lot of travel-related expenditure coming up, and my hours at work are sporadic - some weeks I'll get 30 hours, others I'll get five. (Hospo life, amiright?) So what's a restless gal to do? (Hint: the answer isn't to put off travel till later - not on your life.) One solution: cut down on all non-essential costs...starting with groceries.
This tip came up in conversation with @abowlofplants the other day: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SPECIALS. If it's half-price or better (like this here @pureharvest coconut milk for $1.75), then buy more than you usually would. If it ain't cheap enough, then don't buy it at all. One advantage of sticking to a plant-based diet is a lot of the bases are naturally inexpensive and nutritious (and loaded with protein, so don't even think of asking where that comes from!); my meals are going to consist of a lot more brown rice, beans, lentils, and oats, because bulk-bought grains, legumes and pulses are cheap as hell. And if you combine those with seasonal farmers' market produce, then you're laughing.
So keen to eventually share my upcoming plans for 2018 with you all! Will reveal more when I've sorted my flights etc. ✈️ Have a great weekend, all!
